Coat Color Pictures

I'm working on some of the pictures so I'm gonna post some for feedback. Let me know how things need adjusted! :D [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/thirdpeppermint/Horse%20Colors/c…] Here's how it looks bayified: [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/thirdpeppermint/Horse%20Colors/b…] Palominofied [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/thirdpeppermint/Horse%20Colors/p…] And dunified: [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v225/thirdpeppermint/Horse%20Colors/r…] Thoughts?

Actually I notice the sclera almost immediately. It's very good. You could make it a touch whiter (instead of bigger) and it might be more obvious, but I think it looks pretty good.

The hetero splash is SPOT ON! OMG gorgeous I want that horse! It looks SOOOOOOOOOO much like Lace!!

Here is an example of cremello hooves for you:

The only thing still bugging me is the skin on the whites. It really looks like normal gray/black skin to me (the skin on the DDs is perfect!).

I think the sclera looks good!! Love the heterozygous splash, great colour on perlino, smokeys etc..

Looking good!!!

Mottling and hooves are better, as well, on the appies, plus the fact that they are on a red one...remember, black can have serious suppression effects on Lp. We won't even consider asking you to try and do the bronzing/chocolatizing effect Lp can have on black :D

I like the silvers!

The bay dun looks a little more like some grulla's I've seen, but I've never bred duns so I'm probably not the best person to give advice there!

accphotography Sat, 07/03/2010 - 21:15

Given that you're working with layers and that complicates matters, I think they're all pretty good. If it were me and I didn't have to deal with layers I'd add a little darkness right at the roots of the silvers and maybe some dapples. I'd also add a little more red to the face mask on the bay dun (that's probably where Danni is seeing grullo).

Third Peppermint Sun, 07/04/2010 - 09:11

That bay dun mask is peculiarly black, isn't it? The layers can be a pain, especially when the color does different things to different bases. I can add the dark roots on the silvers just fine, but when I got back and add pretty dapples on the black silver, the bay silver looks.... strange.

I would reeeally like to just make a good example of each individual color. Coding would be dirtier, but the computer/server should be happier. I'd have nothing against making all the pictures and the white patterns and grey could still be layers, but then again I'm not in there doing the dirty work. Just a thought!

I have the face-mask for the bay dun, the white horse sheath skin, and silver hair roots on my list of things to do.

Before I adjust the pearls that I made are there any suggestions of what I should focus on to make it obviously pearl?

Thanks for your help guys!

Dead on on the black silver.

As far as pearl, it's obviously invisible when hetero. It looks like a cross between cream and champagne when homo and look like a funky DD when coupled with cream. The hardest one is the one with cream. It's skin is very purple and eyes very oddly green IMO.

Danni Mon, 07/05/2010 - 01:18

This was the first pearl/cream foal I'd ever seen, not quite double dilute looking until she got a bit older? Little bit darker than a smokey cream?

[img]http://www.gypsyhorsesaustralia.com/Pea…]

I think the darker roots on the adult smokey black and buckskin pearls are slightly more obvious than a double cream too?

P.S yes, love the back silver!!

accphotography Mon, 07/05/2010 - 13:15

That's true of 'E_ aa' pearl creams! I hadn't thought of that. I don't think the same applies to 'E_ A_' pearl creams, but it may. The 'ee' pearl creams definitely look DD (especially as foals).

That looks quite a bit like this guy to me who is known to be one:

The page that one came from has a bunch of variations:

If you haven't seen this before it could possibly help:

Good pearl buckskin example:

I'd say you are on the right track, though his eyes still look very green, not sure how old he is in those pics though
And of course Guindaleza R is a great example of pearl palomino, and Majodero R is a smokey black pearl

Danni Mon, 07/05/2010 - 19:02

I like the Buckskin Pearl, but maybe slightly dark roots to the mane and tail?

This guy looks slightly more 'milky coffee' coloured?

These two are buckskin pearl tobianos, but the darker mane/tail are still pretty obvious?

Smokey black pearl, too much white on the tobi to see the mane but can see forelock a little and the tail?
[img]http://inlinethumb01.webshots.com/20800…]

And the smockey black pearl foal inthe earlier post, when older

This is a smokey cream, not so much of the darker roots?

I love them and it helps to see the colors on an illistrated(sp) horse so there are no complications-makes more sense. If only we could get you to "build" the perfect real horse in the color we want!!!

Daylene Alford Sat, 07/10/2010 - 15:48

The buckskin pearl is very good but I think the hoof color needs lightened. http://www.the4-13ranch.com/PAGES/horse…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but they don't have very good shots of his feet.

The dunalino is perfect!

I'm not sure about the dunskin. It doesn't seem quite right but I can't exactly point out what needs changing. Maybe someone else can help?
