finally! (Myrewyn Sweet Solo's thread)

Re: finally!
Oh my, we had a scare this morning! I was mucking their stall while they munched breakfast... well, while Isabelle munched breakfast anyway because she won't let Solo share her food. I'll have to set up a creep feeder for him. I've never had to do that before because I've always had nice mares. Mares who share. Geesh, Isabelle! Anyway, I had the door blocked with the wheelbarrow but Solo squeezed out in the few inches between the wheelbarrow and the door and started heading down the aisle. (Living up to his name?) The best thing seemed to be to roll away the wheelbarrow so that Belle wouldn't panic and try to run past it or jump it and possibly injure herself. I figured I'd let her out into the aisle, she'd run to Solo, I'd halter her and lead her back in and Solo would follow.
Instead, Isabelle ran right to Cory's stall and started throwing a total tantrum right in front of it. Tantrums are sexy so Cory was rearing and screaming in his stall and Belle was kicking and biting with such speed and fury that I couldn't get in there to halter her. Meanwhile poor Solo was barely managing to avoid his own dam's hooves and teeth. I realized (after a couple seconds which felt like an eternity) that the best way to fix it was probably to remove Cory from the situation so I hollered at him and whipped Belle's lead at him to chase him out into his paddock, at which time Belle calmed down and I was able to halter her and get her and Solo back in their stall.
Heh, this breeding thing is going to age me prematurely.
Re: finally!
I am so glad it all worked out for you - but man that could have be a major disaster... :o  That is what I went through with Akina and Destiny, which is why I had all the other horses moved out so she could have the run of the place by herself (but of course you can't do that). :)
As for the breeding thing make you grey before your time -- join the club.... :laugh1
Re: finally!
I know! I try to keep my barn and my babies as safe as can be but even though everyone was separated by sturdy stall walls and doors it was a dangerous situation. Little Solo is being protected somehow because this is the second time he's been on the danger end of his mom!

Any new pics yet?? :D ;)
Indeed. I haven't seen hide nor hair of my horses since...April sometime...It's been like a month! They are at home getting fat and sassy, and I'm stuck here studying. So I'm living vicariously through yall for the time being. I need ponies for my sanity.
Re: finally!
Well, the weather forecast for the afternoon calls for "sunbreaks" which we Pacific Northwesterners all live for. If the sun peeks out long enough I'll let Belle and Solo out into the world for the first time ever and try to snap some pics.
He's gonna get his socks muddy. :(

Solo tried some zoomies:

Isabelle did not approve so she put him back in the stall:

I pushed them back out for a little more sunshine and fresh air:

Belle had enough of the zoomies and gathered him back under her where she likes to keep him. Look closely between her back legs:

I mean, she REALLY keeps him under her belly:

Oh and Andrea, you may not know this, living in the hot paradise that is Southern California, but when it rains here it is COLD. ;) 40's and rainy is not good for the little ones. He was even shivering in his stall!
Re: finally!
Dawwwwwwww!!!! Amazing pics, really! I know what I'm doing this summer, lol. And its been rainy here, but all its doing for us is keeping the 100% humidity blanket on top of our 95 degree days. I mean, this morning I had a paper in my hand, when I got to the class it was wilted... I could have wrung it out.
He's amazing. Do want.
Give corey a pat on the back for me
Re: finally!
It rains a little almost every day but I've been leaving their door open to the paddock so they can pick where they want to be. I close it at night because I would hate to come down one morning to find he had slipped under the fence and Isabelle has taken down the barn and killed everyone to get to him.
If I'd had a camera on me yesterday I would have taken photos of them being very, very naughty. They blew past me when I went in to clean their stall and ran madly around the property for about twenty minutes. It was pretty to see them running but soooooo bad. There is a fence I'm in the process of taking down so it's not exactly horse safe at the moment and they were over by it nearly giving me a heart attack. Why do I breed horses again??
Re: finally!
I'll get new pics as soon as I can let them out. It's been so rainy and windy they have not yet left the foaling stall. Any new pics would look just like the old ones!
