Isabelle is never ever ever gonna foal

I just went down to the barn to get out a horse to lunge and heard Isabelle breathing so I figured that was worth a look. She was breathing heavily and loudly, holding her tail away from her body, and pressing her nose against the wall. Then she went out into her paddock and rolled in the dirt and had quite a difficult time getting up. Her hind end looks kind of like those AQHA halter horses with the droopy butts. So either this is early labor or just one miserable mare... I'll keep you posted!

...any other horses in the barn? She may not want to push it out if she's uncomfortable with the company. Tiger held out on me until she was the only one stalled, after the false labor it was raining for a week and as soon as everyone was turned out, you bet the next day the baby was there!

If she doesn't like the company she's just going to have to deal with it! She's one of fifteen horses in the barn currently.

Actually, she seems relatively unconcerned with the other horses now that she is at the opposite end of the barn from her evil arch-nemesis, Teddy. (no idea where she came up with this idea...) Her dam is right next door and I think that's the most important thing.
This was just the most convincing performance yet.
You need to give her a Tony Award. Or nominate her for the SAG industry awards. Heck, make her a plaque or give her a certificate for her stall door. Let her feel proud of her accomplishment and she may not feel the need to continue her act and will finally consent to begin The Grand Finale immediately after the intermission. Hurry getting your popcorn and soda, though...you don't want to miss the final act if she decides to rush through it while you're in the ladies' room.
I can't believe her. Seriously. I swear she was in labor last night/early this morning from about 11:30 - 3:00 but then she just stopped and went to sleep. Monsterpony, I hope you got some sleep too!
I think I probably fell asleep about the same time. I finished my book around then. I was really hoping that I'd wake up with news of a foal though...naughty mare, playing tricks

Wait, I just had another thought...both times that Isabelle seemed to give signs of imminent birth and I was staying up to wait, she stopped and went the sleep at the same time that I did....uh oh...I better not sleep tonight.

Put her in the trailer and take her for a ride around the field a few times....we used to call this "jumbling" and it worked every single time......I don't mean a really rough ride, BTW, just a little bumpy!!!

:laugh1 :laugh1 :laugh1 Rabbit - it reminds me of the "road trip" my ex took me on when our son was over due...not a pleasant experience to be sure... :bounce :bounce :bounce

If she is dripping milk, I sure hope that it is not days til the foal appears; she could have lost all her colostrum by then. I have my fingers/toes/anything else crossed for a foal tonight.

Nope, I'm here. I was just down in the barn grooming the show ponies for tomorrow.

The breeding dates were 5/8 and 5/10. If she drips milk much longer I'll have to milk her which will involve a twitch and someone holding a leg up at least.

No she had it last night. She just posted also from her mobile that Belle is a bad mom. So she must have her hands full. Is anyone else following her on twitter? I can't remember my login! But she is mobile posting to facebook.

Monsterpony Sun, 05/03/2009 - 09:49

I am following her on twitter (finally...I have been staying late nights watching for the foal and the one night I fell asleep on the couch in the living room studying is when she finally decides to go :BH ). She hasn't made any updates since the one about Belle not being a good mother.

Jenks Sun, 05/03/2009 - 09:53

I finally remembered my twitter login. How do I make her updates go to my mobile? I have device updates "On", but I'm not getting her updates! I have to go to a browser on crackberry, but I want a ding or a message when she updates...

I don't know. I don't having a texting plan on my phone so it would be expensive for me to get them (though it would have been nice to have been woken up last night :x ).
