Actually he looks like a black with sabino, platinum is their made up color since he tested neg for silver. There are many silver tailed black based horses out there.

How many of their manes are also effected and their birth colors look bay when they test black? Something is unusual about him...

I'd like to see that horse that Hayflinger put up in a different lighting situation...there's a 'gold quality' to the light that might be throwing off the true shade of that horse, too (see the "gold" on the post? And the bay behind it isn't showing anything cuz it's not light, but if it were, would very likely have a metallic look). We get that sort of lighting from time to time, especially as the sun goes down, and it makes everything look funky. Makes my daughter's hair (before she died it dark) look gingery instead of blonde!

I know that it was not the intention to spoil it, and I didn't mean it in a mean way.

I just know how I feel when I see things like this that other people have posted, and how much I enjoy looking at a horse and analyzing it and seeing if I can pick out what color it really is just by the clues on the horse.

We were blessed as all are healthy and doing great - he was 5 weeks early (dil not due until Oct. 11)...JK makes number 13 for us (14 if you add in the great-grandson) - although hubby swears he's too young for this (he's only 44 :rofl ).

Now back on topic - do you think he carries silver? If not now, he will aquire it (from his rattle) a bit later... :love

Thanks all, he is just adorable. I finally got to see his eyes today - they are a sort of odd color so silver may be possible...lol. Mom is a light gold champaign and dad is dark bay/seal so he could shed out to any one of a half dozen colors :rofl
