I had a foal born lastnight sired by my cremello stallion out of my chestnut appy mare and it came out chestnut appy (well i think he is) i have been told no way it cant happen it would have to be pally not chestnut and also told yep there is a small % chance it could be chestnut... does anyone have any idea? here are the pics...
I would love this foal to be tested.
i just cant work it out, i have no other stallions on the block, my other one is agisted on another property and there is no stallions that i know of in the area...? also the service dates match to my stallion...?? i guess a test to see is in order...

Unless the foal has to be parentage tested anyway. If so then I think that answers the question.

But a cream test is only $25.

I agree with Rabbit that on this occaision this foal is a Pally but the LP is just messing with it.....it has to be if there is not alternative ! But please test and put us out of our misery...

Thank you !!! :D

ss - been away...ACC - Goldie is not shed out in that pix, she is actually about 3x that dark (and a sooty pali) I just can't get pixs because my d-i-l has my camera (new grandbaby remember? :love ). Matt will be over the next week or so and maybe we can get some pixs then (using his cell phone ) - he can't do much with his arm in a sling, but we'll try

ACC I have never actually seen a foal that colour that was Palomino, that was my WHOLE point?
Which is why I think Appy is messing with the colour.

I'll have to find you some pics. I certainly have.

To the OP: Maybe some new photos in good light are in order? I know palomino foals change pretty quick.

I saw one posted on HGS that wasn't a *Morgan - but even it weren't this shade of "chestnut".

*Journey's mare was born looking Chestnut and still does not look Palomino, but she's a Morgan and they have a few like that in their breed.

Just found this one, but even he appears lighter than the OP foal

On second thoughts....
I'd like to see some new shots of him (OP foal) - in the sunlight. The shade is probably what is causing him to look so "chestnut" (if there is no question about parentage). :)

The lighting on those isn't much better. The one in the shade she still looks dark, but she's in the shade. The other one definitely looks lighter, but the light is still funny.
