Self colored mane on a pali
I can't remember ever seeing a pali with a mane the same color as the body. My sister just bought a mare from these folks, and I ran across this one. http://www.slidingontop.net/goldencoronate.htm and here's my sisters new mare, just and yes I'm jealous. lol IMAGE(http://s262.photobucket.com/albums/ii120/slidingontop/Glitter/th_Glitter.jpg)

Re: Self colored mane on a pali

I think it only appears self because she's roan. Her forelock is significantly lighter than her head, her mane just isn't lighter than her body. I've seen several selfs though.

LOVE the grulla.

She does look strange for a pali! Her tail is quite dark too. She looks like a weird coloured chestnut LOL!

She was tested. "Sliding OnTop: Her test results are: Aa, nCr, NN for champagne, NN for silver & NN for HERDA. So, she is in fact a palomino."

I don't think her mane is self coloured, she looks to have sooty affecting her tail and, as ACC points out, Roan, that could be accounting for the illusion, but an interesting colour, nonetheless.

She needs to be tested for roan. It is NOT in her pedigree, but I'll be a monkey's uncle if she isn't roan.

Danni, I wasn't putting that up there cause of you. That was just a quote off the owner's facebook page. There was a few comments back and forth while they were waiting for the test results to come in. The farm's name is Sliding On Top

I'm guessing it may have "hidden" in the dun from the sire. Considering the diluted portions of dun and the roan pattern take up the same areas on the horse.

True... and the cream obviously "hid" too.
