Remember Comico VI?

He IS grey, but a really weird grey. Check out what they wrote about his daughter: http://tintagelandalusians.com/sales_despina.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Basically, she tested as bay that is heterozygous grey, no silver, but does not have black points. So... thoughts? New type of grey? New modifier of grey?

JNFerrigno, you need to hunt down Comico VI at the show grounds and ask his owners for some hairs for a DNA test. ;-)

I doubt he's chimeric, he looks SO simmilar to his brother! Honestly, those pics of his big bro while still in spain, are crazy similar to him. And big bro's fairly old, if it was normal grey I'd expect him to be far more white.

that does not look like normal grey...maybe if he was 3, but he's 15!!!

JNFerrigno that will be neat. I wish I was close enough to have a possibility of seeing him >.<

As far as his graying brother he's only a year older than him. Comico IV the slow graying brother was born 1995 and Comico VI our questionable possible gray was born in 1996.

I just got an email back from the owners of Comico IV:
Dear Katie,
We know Comico IV is EeAa (ie Black carrying chestnut, with a single agouti gene {bay}) The characteristics of his coat pattern are consistent with him being rabicano but there is no test available to us in the UK for this pattern. There is also some suggestion that he may carry a European Sabino gene because of the extensive expression of his patterning. The ‘white’ hairs in his coat are in fact a very ‘silver’ colour, although this does not show in the photographs. He has not been specifically tested for grey but because of the dominant nature of the grey gene, we would have expected him to ‘white-out’ by now as he is 15yo. Comico IV clearly has a complex genetic make-up and it may be several years yet before the geneticists are able to unravel the mystery. Comico IV covered several mares this year and we are obviously very interested to see what is produced next year.
Regards,
Geoff
Cool that you got an answer. Don't know why he wouldn't be tested for gray if it may explain things.

Thougth some one said he was tested for grey? I'm confused now, so he's in the UK and not in the US any more?
