Metallic Sheen..what causes it?

What causes a metallicy sheen(other than like...champagne or Akhal Teke's that have it)? I've got a mare here that is so metallicy looking in the sunlight....she rivals my former champagne TWH in the shine factor with it. I honestly don't remember her being this shiny before...but this is my first summer of having her back here in 3 years (she was on a feed lease to a friend out of state)and her first couple of years I owned her, she was coming back from neglect. She is on grass hay, a metabolic mineral pellet and occasional grass grazing. Noticed today she has more sabino ticking throughout her coat too which I find neat and a thin false dorsal I never really noticed before..LOL I failed at getting good pics of the shine with my cheapy camera... it gets a new copper penny to red glitter shine on the hairshafts. this pic was taken before being brushed or anything..she's outside 24/7...was a bit dusty.

I guess everything is possible. Though she is not scar-proned, it could of course have been the cause. It truly was a birdcatcher though. And if it was a scar, would it make sense that they don't come back (white) after a shed? :? No long scars in white anywhere. Just a rare occasional tiny round one.
