Re: The rare red dun appaloosa thread
I changed the wording in my post a little bit but feel what I said was relevant to the conversation (breeding Welshes to horses outside the Welsh world) so I've left most of it.
again, I'm not being critical (which would be like saying that there is something wrong with his conformation or something), just stating an opinion which isn't any different from acc saying that she doesn't like bay horses or Diane and me saying that we don't like gaited horses. Heck, I've had numerous people tell me to my face that TBs and WBs have ugly heads! It's just an opinion

My reply was : LOL
"I havent run into that experience in the hunter farms I have worked for in the east, maybe its a regional thing? Really they didnt get hung up on heads as you know its more about how it goes we can always dress up a head in a fancy bridle, but boy oh boy when the got a cute little headed welsh they would oooo and ahhhh and drag its behind right into the model class about 100 lbs to heavy LOL"
Re: The rare red dun appaloosa thread
cute headed, yes, but not extremely dish-faced. When you get anything more than a slight dish they think "Arabian" and there is a pretty big bias against Arabians.
Other than that, what you say about heads is true here, too. There is no head hang-up on the open hunter circuit and a common-headed pony or horse will place just as well as one with a "fancy" head. The pony at my trainer's who I mentioned qualifies for the pony finals every year has a big, common head. She moves and jumps great though so she wins and wins, which is the way it should be. ;)
Re: The rare red dun appaloosa thread
We all managed for years and years without any moderation on the old board, Rabbit along with it. If a thread turns caustic between two members, let them hash it out. If someone can step in and cool things down without picking sides, so be it. Everything should be out in the open, then there will no question about what happened.
Re: The rare red dun appaloosa thread
I know you ladies didn't mean anything disrespectful toward Frodo and Andrea. I also don't think what you said would have offended anyone given the context but talking negatively about someone's horse even in the privacy of this forum could possibly lead to bad feelings and I'd like to avoid as much of that as possible.
Hope you understand,
Daylene
