Press Release
San Patrignano
For Immediate Release
February 4 th, 2005
Happy Event at San Patrignano’s Breeding Farm This Friday, January 28 th was a special day at San Patrignano. A third foal was born out of Weihaiwej, by Indoctro(Capitol x Vanessa VII), a prominent Holstiener stallion.
“The foal was born through an embryo transfer. We have yet to decide on a name, although we know it will be of Chinese origin and will begin with the letter “A”, as will be the case with all foals born in 2005.”, explained Giacomo Muccioli, head of breeding operations at San Patrignano. Weihaiwej’s progeny all have Chinese names, including her first two fillies, Tai (2001) and Veihaiwej (2003).
Weihaiwej, a 1984 Oldenburg, is as well-known for her blue eyes as for her competitive career. She was ridden to success by German rider Franke Sloothaak in many important international competitions, culminating in two gold medals at the 1994 World Championships at The Hague.
