Peed off again !!!

Re: Peed off again !!!
I hope she recovers quickly! cold days in the spring allways worry me. Grass+frost=super high sugar, and if they havent has grass all winter just a little bit and...poof..They dont even have to be "at risk".
The good news is you know what caused it and it probably won't happen again. :)
when you let her back out though just be sure to get her away from any grass if the temps at night are going to be cool (below 40 degrees F, not sure what that translates to C?). Afternooons should be ok. If possible avoid keeping the grass short and overgrazed too. ideally try to keep them off in the spring untill it matures to a few inches high. stressing the grass builds up more sugar and mature grass is more like hay. Better for your land too. I know thats hard but I think it's worth it. you can get a strand of electric tape or rope and set up a narrow track on the perimeter of the paddock. That should get torn up without much grass in it, even scrape it with the tractor if the hooves dont do enough, it allows plenty of excercise and lets the center to grow good for summer grazing. Some people just set up a small square pen dry lot but ime that just makes for a mud pit and a mad horse.

UGH. Sorry to hear about this! You are not having very good luck lately. But just think, it's better than the alternative..
