Changes
This is the Arabian stallion from the "Learning to Jump" thread. Since I've been getting updates on him, I've watched his color changes with some fascination. He's an odd chestnut, sometimes light-ish, sometimes liver-ish. It's fun to watch how he's changed as he's gone from pasture life to show horse.. As a baby.. IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/Breeze_still_shot.jpg) In Tennessee, warm months (?), out 24/7, no conditioning.. IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/breezemactook06cantersharprightpose.jpg) He first arrived in Colorado from Tennessee - first snow! IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/breeze2-Copy.jpg) Photoshoot that spring.. IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/07JG4820a.jpg) Being shown...has been in his new place from some months now, getting started under saddle in earnest. His muscling and look is changing.. IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/2776web-1.jpg) Winter coat, significantly darker... IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/leap.jpg) This was at a major show, it was a very big deal for his new owner and him, but I think they had a bit of rough prep. She had bought him a body "slinkie" and he got caught up in it and had cut himself up around the neck. She was seriously ill for the 3 weeks prior, so he had not been worked at all, and he was "pumpkin colored" from body clipping. They had a a major photoshoot and video session set up on the grounds, and had to work around it.. Re: Changes

I LOVE that last one - both the shot and his color! Does he get turned out much? Cyn's new coats come in dark and then dries and fades - but since using the loose minerals - I'm hoping it stays darker this summer.

Re: Changes

Ugh..sorry, I keep having to replace the "snow" photo because my resizes aren't working. I'll give up for now.

I have no idea what she is giving him, but I believe he is turned out every day, with a gelding buddy, and another stallion buddy next door. Here he is with his stallion buddy, RB Cavalier.

Goop..

No goop..

The most striking thing that I notice, in almost every photo ... wherever the sun touches and highlights him ... it looks like a fire-y sheen dancing on his coat. Most especially in the liberty/leaping photo where the sun is shining on his front.

Yeah, what was it someone was putting forward? Satin??
I like that idea.
Sundancer had a sheen as deep as an Akhal Teke over his coat (Palomino/Sabino/ Splash) and it does look gorgeous.
This is not quite my sort of Arab but he is a lovely animal, all the same.

Check out what you can do to a horse under different conditions, different photographers, and different environments..

As a younger animal in sport horse tack..Sorry for the picture size, will try and find a larger version.
IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/stallionshtm_txt_breezeaug04macstan.gif)

New owner practicing the "hard stand-up" for the first time. Horse has not been stood up in several years..
IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/breezestand.jpg)

This was from that first spring photoshoot, still not settled into holding a show stance..Clean and groomed, but somewhat "au naturale" with no clipping or make-up.
IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/07JG5109a.jpg)

Same as above, this was competing at a major sport horse venue that September..
IMAGE(http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/ad220/MaigrayBellivaunce/Breeze/2776web.jpg)

Body clipped, out of condition, stood up, with make-up for the main ring halter class..

Same horse, from the most recent shoot, groomed for the main ring, lots of make-up on the face, coat in superb condition, has been going under saddle consistently, just about to start jumping

Same horse? Would you have recognized him at all if you did not know who he was between the shoots?

Ooops, had to edit in the first pic, got the wrong one..nevermind, will find a better version later

Ya, satin actually exists and is identified in other animals. And it is exactly the same - hollow hair shafts that pick up the light.

I want to say I'd recognize his back end anywhere, but now I'm not so sure.

No! :rofl I've got you telling me *here* that it is the same horse, but if I were to look at the pics w/out that info I'd tell you they were all a different horse and not the same one!

Re: Changes

Very interesting set of photos, thanks for sharing. It was the hip/croup that got me. I thought I knew what kind of topline I liked but I had no idea you could change it so much based on how you stand the horse up! So this stallion shows in both sporthorse and main ring?

Is there a link to his pedigree? Did I miss it?

It's an interesting pedigree that's stacked. He favors Khemosabi I think. But check out one of his grandsire's on his maternal line - sooty sooty? http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/lewisfie..." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yeah, he has really different "look" from anything else out there at the moment. He has his faults, but I liked him when I first saw him. I respect his breeders very much and they thought quite highly of him. But it was only when I saw what he sired that I really sat up and took notice.

One of the pedigree "gurus" gave me some background on his, noting that his tail male line was renowned for passing along flaxen chestnut coloring...Come to find out his grandsire was a liver chestnut with flaxen and from a long line of the same. That would explain his color. She thought he was basically a distillation of the "chestnut" in his pedigree and that he was a bit of a genetic freak to high quality, much like Khemosabi himself.

Ah, I looked and could not find a height. It's funny because he looks really tall in some of the photos and then I saw him standing next to some people and he looked teeny tiny so even his size changes.

I've shown you how tall I (not me, but the angle and the shorty in the pic) can make Cyn look!

Hey, thought I would revive

Hey, thought I would revive this thread to continue to document the changes in Breeze. I started this one in May 2010, and it has now been 3 years, 2 months and 1 day since.

Photoshoot in early winter, 2010
