Not mine, but what color?

Re: Not mine, but what color?
I agree that age could do it.
But.
The Buckskin thing can do it also, it is "frosting" very similar to that which happens in their manes and tails. With classic Roan you do not get the head involved, that stays solid, unless there is something else at work, and I do not see Sabino.

Tested roan without gray:

(this one just shows the frosting on the mane that can happen)

No gray unless pure Brabants have developed it:

Dam is significantly roaned beyond the normal points:

I've seen it several times in person lately too. It just does seem to happen sometimes.
Re: Not mine, but what color?
Yeh I've seen it a few times when the horse is excessively roan, but you usually see a darker face, even if there is roan on it. Your first link I've seen a bit on the really roan horses. But it still looks true roan. The Belgians too, when they have roan on their face, they still have that darker point true roan look? If that makes sense!
Thank you for those picture links ACC! They're very helpful for me!
Does anyone have any examples of the roaning that OLD horses get?
Finally!
I HATE (Loathe abhor) all the stupid, POINTLESS changes they have made to Photobucket, meaning I can only now upload one picture at a time while they flash ads at me. ARGH!!!!
Anyway Rabbit had a solid sorrel head as a youngster, this has come in slowly over the past ten years. He is now 31.

Are you sure you can only upload one at a time? I can still upload multiple photos at a time...
Re: Not mine, but what color?
Heres two screen caps of what my uploader currently looks like,
From my computer, highlighted where it says "ctrl-click for multiple uploads"

Re: Not mine, but what color?
(I also hate what PB has changed to recently, but I CAN upload multiple pics at once by holding down control).
Like RF, buckskin was what came to mind to me with the face roaning.
And here's some roaning on the face due to age... This is Concho, he is around 24 y/o, we had leased him as hubby's driving horse until this past spring. IIRC he had a small star when he was young?
