Re: What colour?
Another pic, he looks a bit odd here as he is the middle of a stretch after a snooze.

I was thinking black minimal tobiano too.
He has quite a few little odd patches of white of his forehead, either side of his tail & either side of his hips.
Has anyone tested this fellow for LWO...that one near solid leg out of 4 is suspicious to me...esp. in light of no "pedigree"...
... I'm gonna say: "No, he hasn't been tested." ymwhisle ;-)

Re: What colour?
Good question. I wouldn't think so... but a friend of mine HAS noticed that there seem to be very few roans with significant sabino (or anything besides determined patterns like frame and tobi). Hmmm... definitely possible. More interesting due to the relation of roan and tobi IMO.
Are you not the one that's showed us the mare with only two short anklets who is homozygous Tobiano? I've seen a decent number of those too.
No, not me, although I do have a mare with three and a half!!
I just do not think it has anything to do with Minis, that's all, I think it is coincidence.
I am very wary of this "Oh Minis are a rule unto themselves" myth that is gaining ground fast, and I think we should be, too. Minis are just a mixture of UK Shetlands, AmShets (in some cases) Spotted ponies and Falabellas, with a bit of Welsh and hackney form the AmShets, they are not even a breed, they are a height registry, so they cannot "breed true" or have breed characteristics.
I have seen a couple of possible colour differences, mainly in Silver expression, but a lot of the rest of the so called differences can be put down to the fact that most breeds have a definite rule or idea pertaining to what you mix with what, whereas with Minis all and every colour and pattern is mixed indiscriminately!!
And I still love them dearly :rofl
Re: What colour?
Cute baby, I guess you can test to find out about the tobiano. I also think maybe splash or sabino as well.
Hmm, heaps of roan welshies with flashy splash/sabino markings, no supression of white in welshies at least.
I have a black stallion who is sabino & most likely minimal splash, he has three sox, star & snip & very commonly throws similar markings. No chance at all of tobiano or frame, so I know those markings are perfectly possible on their own.
Re: What colour?
I'm thinking Miles carries a cream gene? He also has blue eyes.

Re: What colour?
Foal looks minimal tobi, black I suppose. Is that some sort of roaning in the coat? Very cute!!
