My First Foal for 2010

Re: My First Foal for 2010
Oh, here you go Songcatcher, some water for you. This is not a creek, we have just had 9 inches of rain in the last few weeks. Even our hills are waterlogged & the ponies are standing in mud up to their knees in places. To think, we had the worst bushfires in our history only 12 months ago. Still, not complaining, it means we will have a good spring & I would rather mud than fire.

Re: My First Foal for 2010
I love it. We are nearing the end of one of the hottest driest summers we have had. My pasture it totally burned up, except for the small areas I can run a sprinkler on. I normally start feeding hay in November. This year, I started last week. I should be thankful though. At least there has been rain in the surrounding area and there is hay available to buy.
Now back to your beautiful colt. Sorry I took away from that.

Oh, Supaspot, I couldn't imagine it being that wet for 10 months of the year. It is often like that for winter & part of spring here, mind you the last five years have been much drier than normal & much of Australia has been in terrible drought.
Pablo, both of his parents are a real blend that is typical of the Riding Pony. He has TB/Arabian/Welsh A/Welsh B/Australian Pony in his bloodlines.
But yes, welsh B is very commonly used in the mix. You need the pony blood to get the little ears, & pony character.

What a gorgeous boy and such a pretty face.
As for rainfall here we have seen very little since last December compared to other yrs. By end of June we were very close to drought conditions.
And the rainfall we have had seems to have (well in Clare anyway) fallen at night. Fields are still bone dry and this yr its warm and kids get to spend a lot of time outside.
Last yr fields were flooded. It rained all day and was cold.
This yr has been like a breath of fresh air :flower

BEAUTIFUL! Is that water I see on the ground? And a light jacket on the person getting the foal's attention? What I would give to see that here! :ympray:
Oh, very nice foal also. :rofl
