Pali + Chestnut= Bay

Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
is that common ? I would have made the same mistake because I thought it was bay too so my first thought would have been wrong sire !
mum is easy on the eye
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Based on my monitor there is no way that baby is not bay.
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
baby looks bay to me too, no way a pally can be the sire.
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
I thought American Cream Drafts were champagne? Does the foal look half draft to anyone?
Okay! I got it! Mom is chestnut and dad is silver bay/black champagne!
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Here is their website. http://www.walkerfarms.net/Foals_2010W…] They have the cream draft listed as the dad, and the chestnut as the mom. Bay tobi colt.
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Ok, I looked at the site. Just talked to my sister. He's not pali, he's amber champange. Does that make more sense?
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
sire looks to be almost the exact same color as my old TWH gelding--who was a flaxen gold champagne (chestnut/champagne)
edit to add: they DO have another stallion....that could have sired a bay. http://www.walkerfarms.net/Bris.html
in fact, compared to their other half draft foals...I see nothing half draft about that baby
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Baby is bay and that champagne is not amber or classic. The sire they are claiming is the sire is not the sire IMO.
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Agree with RMT.
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
agree with RMT and ACC
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Errr, maybe it's just me but that mare looks to have boy parts. Surely that's not her bag!
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
That could definitely be the end of a teat.

Yep me too, that foal is bay and parents are red based, thus not that sire!
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
The Sire could well be hiding black behind a modifier - I wouldn't count him out yet !
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
look back at my last post on here lipigirl. That foal doesn't even look half draft in build compared to their other half draft babies....and they have a stallion on premises that COULD be the sire. I linked to him I believe
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Yes I did see it RHF and I do agree that it's unlikely but stranger things have been seen on this board....what does the owner say when asked about it /
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Basically the simplest answer is the most straightforward.
The stud has simply made a mistake as to who the sire is.
So long as they test the foal and put the mistake right there is no real harm done as I am assuming you would be buying the foal based on the fact that you like it, rather than having to have that particular, somewhat obscure, pedigree?
I would actually rather not have the draft as the sire! :booty
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
My sister is the loon who wants him, even after I explained that surely can't be the sire. American Cream Draft has got her panties all in a whirl. She's interested in the colt because the dad. I also poitned out the mares crazy front pasturns.
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Well, if she is buying because of the sire she is going to be very disappointed!
I cannot for the life of me understand this desire to ride draft horses!
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Well they are good to ride if you don't want to do too much :D
I must admit though the TB/Clydey show jumpers in Oz seem to be doing very well?
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
Ha! The homozygous Tobi jumped the fence! LOL Fizz is right! It does happen!
I'm kidding, but the Tobi is better looking than the draft, so the foal is better off.
Re: Pali + Chestnut= Bay
It can't.
If both the parents are red based then the foal is too (albit with a darker mane and tail which IS possible:)
Otherwise it's the wrong sire listed.
