Re: Another baby due this yr
Dont laugh but I did the ring test on myself (I have been very accurate with other people) and its telling me a boy and going by the first scan where it was stretched out like a cat it probably is
I have another scan in 6 wks so might find out then.
Now the main tiredness and nausea is gone I am not feeling as bad or worried. I am just not looking forward to the c-section as it will be my 3rd so I know whats in store.
Re: Another baby due this yr
the only irish name ive ever heard irl is Ciaran Carbery-Shaha, and apparently he and his parents pronounce it wrong, though they are immigrants. His sister's name is Aisling but i have no clue how to pronounce it.
And congrats on the baby!
*edit caus Aisling is his sister, i forgot his bro's name
Re: Another baby due this yr
Aisling is pronounced Ash - ling and how someone called Aisling is pronounced Eileen is beyond me :rofl
My hubby is Seamus with a fada over the e pronounced Shay-mus but in th UAE he is called everything under the sun, buy the most common one they say is Mr. Shamoos   and always with the Mr.
One of my PET hates is in the US McGrath is always pronounced correctly. McGrath is McGra ("th" is silent) but the th is pronounced in the US :BH

Wow Congratz! I missed this thread also!
My "surprise" was 6 months old on the 9th. He was #3 for us with his brother being 10 and his sister being 8. It took me a while to get used to the idea as well but now I don't know why I didn't have another one sooner! The older kids are great helpers.

Maybe we need a human - kid showoff forum! I just realized how little I know about some of you. Kids are HUGE! A really big deal!

Hahaha poor thing!
I always wanted to honor my Dutch heritage with some Dutch names but didn't want to saddle a poor American child with a name like Machteld or Joris.
Had a flatmate named Dagmar, when I lived in Massachusetts. Also went to school with a girl who had only last names for names... :rofl
I was discussing Irish names with an American woman once and she told me her favorite boy's name was "See-moos." It took a few seconds for me to figure out that she meant Seamus. She liked that name a lot better once I told her how to pronounce it correctly.
ROFL! Reminds me of my college roommate...we were talking actors (as 17/18yos do), and who we found attractive, and she kept mentioning this "See-an" Connery. It finally dawned on me she meant Sean Connery of Bond fame. It was at that point I realised not everyone had Irish rellies. To this day I wonder how she would have pronounced my cousin Eamon's name.

Actually no, we DON'T
Actually no, we DON'T pronounce it wrong. Everyone else does. Ciarán is pronounced KEER-ahn so I have no clue where you get that we pronounce it wrong. This is his sister Aisling(ash-ling) btw. Only half our last name is Irish too, so not all of our name is Gaelic. Not all of us are immigrants either, just our mom moved here and gave birth to us here. So we do not pronounce it wrong. There's multiple pronunciations for names.... just American's don't know how to say them the correct Gaelic/Irish way.
