Re: Dilutions and Panagre
you happen to have any visual examples of the creme with panagre? or the champagne? We must have looked at thousands of pictures and have still yet to see one. It would be very much appreciated if you could supply one to satisfy our curiosity!!
Thanks for the answer too! I'll do some digging around tonight for the silvers...might be able to find them again
Re: Dilutions and Panagre
Sheesh... ummm... probably not. the ones I can recall were just horses I ran across while searching for other things and I didn't pay any attention to where I saw them as they didn't strike me as unusual. In cream it's most often noticed on buckskins. In champagne, I usually see it more on the golds.
Re: Dilutions and Panagre
think of me if you run across them again please! I've yet to see one! The buckskins we seen that looked panagre were actually sooty...same goes with the palominos.
which leads me off on another tangent--will sooty show up on champagne? Are there any bay or chestnut bases that sooty doesn't show up on?

ran across this in my bay silver search...but panagre, yes?
Re: Dilutions and Panagre
Think this is silver bay/pangare? Its a Comtois.

Re: Dilutions and Panagre
Most purebred Haflinger in Europe carry pangare and cream, they look like this:

These ones have pangare but no cream:

Re: Dilutions and Panagre
A friend of mine had a haflinger stallion of the old breeding, he sired buckskins and palominos several times with bay and chestnut mares. :flower
and yes, there are sometimes cremello haflingers born, they are not taken into the studbook since it is considered a fail-color like white legs as well:

some look like this:

and there are even Purebred Haflinger that have a dorsal:
Re: Dilutions and Panagre
I've seen a pic of a cremello Haflinger- at the time I thought oh I didn't think they came in cream! It was in a horse mag and was a pic of the Queen at a horse show talking to someone holding a cream horse, and the words under the pic stated it was a Haflinger, it was taken somewhere in Europe not the UK. Can't find anything on the net though.
I've got to admit I've never seen a Haflinger that looks palomino, even the pale ones don't look it, they look too 'hot' coloured. If you see a pale Haflinger next to a true palomino they look definitely different.
Re: Dilutions and Panagre
ACC: You might be right about the white Haflinger being probably DW, here is another link - if you click on the picture, you can see the dark eyes clearly:

I can't say anything about countershading since this is the only pic of that horse I have.
Check out the pic of this early Haflinger, would you say it is countershading too? It is well known that several of the original mares carried dun factor. It was still not so rare in the 60s that some Haflinger were born carrying dun... all the pics from that time a b/w though...

Re: Dilutions and Panagre
Here is a page with a smoky black pearl filly with what looks like pangare.

Re: Dilutions and Panagre
It is actually a requirement that they do NOT have Cream, so, no Cream, in the same way that there is no pinto in Fjords (even though we saw pictures of obvious pintos, and even a spotted one) and CrCr Fjords are not accepted for registration.
I have never seen or heard of a Cream bearing Haflinger in the UK....
Re: Dilutions and Panagre
Is there a place on the forum that translates some of the acronyms?
Like Dw. double white, dark white, dilute white, dont want white, deadly white....
and on another thread there was w4 and w5. ??
thank you.
DW means "Dominant White"
w4, w5 are the numbers of each Dominant White mutation.
Re: Dilutions and Panagre
I have seen it on creams. There aren't enough pearls to know about them IMO. I've seen it on champagne. Silver, I don't know. I haven't paid much attention to it there and can't recall any instances right now.
