I lost Amira a while back.
Have not been able to post the news til now.
Still don't know what happened, I do know it cost me so much I had to get a loan, and I am normally far better at saying "stop" than I was with this foal!
She did not suffer too much, she was in the Royal Veterinary College and they all fell for her, and would never have let her be harmed.
When I picked her mother Ecco, up, she walked out of the isolation stall without a backwards glance, it was uncanny.
For two weeks, though, she kept asking me to give her back...it broke my heart.
Hoping the mare is not in foal again, as I shall show her and basically, knock the socks off the bloody crappy mares that are currently winning in the ring!!!
After 45 years I am beginning to wonder if I am cut out for this breeding lark after all.
The College are doing a full autopsy, for free, because they wanted to know what was wrong, but that was three months ago now, and they still don't know!!
Anyway, my little Silver Princess is gone.
I had six foals this year, I have three surviving.
2009 was not a good year for me!!!
(apologies mods for language, I am emotionally stressed)
Re: Sad to say
I`m so sorry to hear that Jane, I remember how excited you were about her when she was born. I just lost my favourite dog 3 weeks ago (the others dont know she was tho  ) she was only 21/2yrs old, I thought I had years ahead of love to share with her and I am really grieving over her its awful, so I can totally comiserate (sp. sorry) with you. I hope you do find out what it was, its always a worry in the back of your mind for the dam isnt it? By the way, I was looking at the pic of the foals again and noticed that Ecco has white spots on her leg and shoulder, or are those spots on the photo?
I hope you feel better soon. :sad
