Re: As I promise..I got to see some of the APPY/AQHA horses
He's rabicano. I find most of the best reining and cutting horses are rabicano... maybe it's linked to the catty gene. :rofl (I also find most of them red... hmmmm... maybe rabicano is linked to extension too. :laugh1 )

Who is this horse again? Reminic Ringo?
If I recall correctly his name is JD Shiner Jack
Hmm, not who I thought then... I was thinking it was Shining Spark
Re: As I promise..I got to see some of the APPY/AQHA horses
He was really a good horse too,. they took him to the open show jsut to school him and their other stallion, very well behaved and nice movers . They had a daughter of his there too schooling...the pic of the mega rabcano colt I put up from that farm is from him too
Re: As I promise..I got to see some of the APPY/AQHA horses
I finally remembered the name of the QH mare that has produced tobi's from a qh stallion, she also has at least one homozygous tobi foal from a tobi stallion. Her name is El Rebo Gal. Her roan is linked to her black gene and her tobi to her red.
Re: As I promise..I got to see some of the APPY/AQHA horses
This foal should be registered AQHA, but it is not... unless it is under another name. Any idea why? http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/poco+picara" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Boy she's truly a fabulous example of roan and tobianos linkage to extension. She's followed the rules perfectly and having both roan and tobiano makes it really obvious. I think I will use her when I explain the linkage in the future.
Oh never mind... I didn't notice their age. They were before the white rule changed. GAH!!! I guess that means it stops with her.
Here's one of her tobi foals (the mare):
The other is a stallion who is still alive but has no produce listed with APHA. I guess they could have gotten his AQHA papers in '04 and he could have continued it, but I have seen no evidence they did.
The mare does have one APHA foal, an '07 palomino filly who is mostly white (several patterns and two blue eyes...). Sire is a black with several patterns as well. Yeah... palomino by a black and out of a chestnut. Sire's parents are grullo and bay. Grullo's parents are palomino and blue roan (fwiw I see no dun in either parent and the only photo I've found of him he looks black... so I'm guessing he's really smokey black like his son and not grullo at all).
Ok enough digging for me for one night. I'm tired. :)
was bugging me where I had seen some pictures, so I went digging and found this thread..so..to revive it a bit--here is an update on one of these horses and her new (spotted) foal :D
Looks grulla to me...but I've never seen a mushroom (other than on my pizza or steak - :laugh1 )

i wonder if they are refering to the horse color or the fungi on his back! (get it....fun guy...i crack myself up)
either that or you could say he is high on mushroom.
:laugh1 :laugh1 :laugh1 :laugh1 :laugh1 :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Well... I never thought of it that way, but that particular grulla/o is definitely the color of a mushroom!!
I can't find a JD Shiner Jack in either AQHA or APHA.
ACC as we all know - there is no way of knowing how they'd spelled JD Shiner Jack (especially if they were embiding of the 'shine :laugh1 )

JD SHinner Jack...I didnt knwo how they spelled it but I found it :)
Good Lord that's some SERIOUS breeding!!!
I don't really see where the rabicano came from (not from one of the major sources apparently), but it's there somewhere.
He was really a good horse too,. they took him to the open show jsut to school him and their other stallion, very well behaved and nice movers . They had a daughter of his there too schooling...the pic of the mega rabcano colt I put up from that farm is from him too
Another red based rabicano... hmph. I really am starting to think rabicano is on KIT.
Where is classic roan and sabino 1 located? Are they on KIT?
:-?

Yup. *nods* Kinda makes sense doesn't it.

Same story with this one:

Is AQHA not allowing them?

Jim Jirkovsky has at least one of these Shining Spark-bred foals...altho' I guess it isn't a foal anymore.
