Champagne?? Can test be wrong??

With all the research on Champagne is determined to be more than likely New World in origin. It would have likely come from a breeding to a Champagne that got their coloration from the mutation overseas. The test for it detects the Ch allele directly so it has a good chance of being accurate. I guess Champagne could express differently in drafts. I know most of my Champagne ref on the big guys comes from American Cream Drafts. But they are mostly Gold Champagne with Pangare and look much lighter than even normal Golds.
I think we could tell more if there were close ups of his skin and eyes.

Does the horse in this discussion remind anyone else of the Macchiato horse they found the mutation in?

I'm just wondering (as I doubt the girls would have lied about the test, I know they didn't as they showed me the bit's of paper and as I knew NOTHING about Champagne and had my mind on spotted cobs to the point that I was literally obsessed I disregarded it)... so anyway I'm just wondering is there a possibility of a gene existing in the Cobs that inhibits the Champagne expression? Perhaps something that other breeds/types who carry Champagne lack on the whole?
Regarding an earlier post about Flash Harry's skin, yes it is dark around his eyes, his eye colour was a slightly lighter - the colour of a lot of palomino's eyes with that wheat colour 'overlay' sort of thing if that makes sense and he has mottled skin the same as my 'what the heck colour' gypsy cob yearling colt here:

Is it possible that it doesn't express in the Cobs? Like the difference for example with silver between the Mini's who are quite literally silver and some Stock Horses etc... I have seen some silvers which don't even look it.
As an aside, is totally out of the question to think there is a possibility that Champagne was in the UK? Did the gene come from the same place as Pearl? which is defiantly in the UK.
