Whiskey - lots of white showing up!!!

Well Whiskey is 8 months old today. I went to the barn and messed with him today, I was picking dried mud off of him and brushing him and then I lean down and notice HOLY COW both back legs have LOTS of white coming in! Then I look at his front legs, and they have white coming in on the back of them. It's so weird. I dunno what to think lol. I took the best pics I could with my phone but I plan on taking the digital camera and getting better ones tomorrow. So, what the heck y'all?! This is the one lonely white hair in the center of his tailhead lol: [img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147/RustiZoomZoom/Whiskey/Whiskey1-…] Outside of rear right leg: [img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147/RustiZoomZoom/Whiskey/Whiskey1-…] [img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147/RustiZoomZoom/Whiskey/Whiskey1-…] [img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147/RustiZoomZoom/Whiskey/Whiskey1-…] Outside of rear left leg: [img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147/RustiZoomZoom/Whiskey/Whiskey1-…] Back of front legs: [img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147/RustiZoomZoom/Whiskey/Whiskey1-…] Back of left front: [img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147/RustiZoomZoom/Whiskey/Whiskey1-…] Back of right front: [img]http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r147/RustiZoomZoom/Whiskey/Whiskey1-…]

Anybody have any ideas?? I figure it's not classic roan because it wouldn't be affecting his legs...or tail. Correct? So probably sabino roan. He's not going grey, his head/around his eyes is still dark.

I believe she is referring to the belief that certain locations on a horse fall into "guard hair areas". It's almost like trimming I guess and is probably a remnant of camouflage. Think of the areas dun expresses itself, all of those would fall into guard hairs IMO.

The extra long hairs on the legs and sometime, often, on the belly, they appear on the chin, too. They are often paler than the rest of the body/legs, and where there is also pangare they are very noticeable.

I know.....I think I messed around and waited a week too long to pull the hairs. I talked to the lab on Jan. 5th and they said they were a couple weeks away from testing, but they weren't positive. I didn't bother calling back and asking today for fear of knowing I'm going to have to wait lol...just went to the post office and sent them on their way. Results will get here when they get here. I'll probably even forget I mailed the hair
