what do ya think..

This is my performance assessment and final exam for Photography class this year. How do you like? I took the photo and then played with the saturation to make it less purple, and then focused in on the center. How do you think it has turned out? I printed it out as an 8x10. That would be Chris (boyfriend) holding Diego, one of our Border Collie pups.

I liked the sharpness of "the original", but then compared it with "the final"...and find I much prefer 'the final' for several reasons:
I like that the loose dog hairs are not as noticeable on the shirt.
I liked the softening around the edges, which pulls the viewer to the 'action' of the center.
That action being: The Greeting of Man and Pup, with the focus on both their eyes/noses/muzzle/chin.
I like that more of the focus is on the pup, with the man's face highly exposed and partially obscured.
I preferred the blurry upper L corner of 'the original', but I find 'the final', while losing some of that color/blurry/contrast helps to focus the viewer to the center, it also helps to sort of off-center divide the photo from upper R corner to lower L corner in a very interesting, jagged line, that *still* manages to draw the viewer to the center action.

I really like that photo.

I love it! I love the softness, it really brings more warmth to already warm subjects. IMO. good job
