What color is this stallion???

Songcatcher Thu, 04/02/2009 - 14:35

I would say he is Buckskin by appearance, but he looks remarkably similar to one someone posted that tested to be a Palomino with something wierd going on with sooty.

Morgan Thu, 04/02/2009 - 15:56

That has GOT to be a buckskin. :? He's so buckskiny I can't comtemplate anything else.

with a sooty false dorsal and I would say minimal splash by the flow of the socks and the snip.

Buckskin or dunskin. The dorsal doesn't look all that distinct, but then it isn't a close up photo, also a couple of the pics he looks to have
that lack of shine that duns often have, but it could just be the pics.

He is not Morgan. He is Welsh. He is by the cremello stallion Rosmels Creme De Mint. He is Buckskin HOWEVER he is SILVER Buckskin. His sire has tested positive for silver, and he has two foals, at least one of which is out of a purebred Arabian dam, who have tested positive for silver.

This is one of them-Silver Bay EeAAZz

Wow. I never would have guessed Welsh off the original pictures. I thought in the jumping photo he looked small, but in the show photo I thought he looked too tall! I thought I was too influenced by the photographer, but I went back and looked - and I still didn't think Welsh! The second round of photos shows much more of a silver influence, but I would have considered a Morgan more likely than a Welsh to carry it.

Wow, he's changed color so much over his lifetime that one could make arguments for a whole rainbow of colors depending on which photo they see!

One of these days, I'm going to post one of those 'what color is this horse' and it's going to be a completely obvious one and we can all chuckle together at the far-fetched colors we guess.

Buckskins do not always express Silver...there seems to be some weight to my theory that Cream suppresses the expression of Silver....my stallions sire is Silver Buckskin and presents ans Buckskin, as does his sire and his grandsire.
