Re: Is this Sabino ?
Yeh I agree too. Tobiano and sabino do seem to do weird roany patches sometimes :? This cob has a more obvious patch but I assume same sort of thing?

That last one is not as solid as it appears, its completely roaning. They were taken with a camera phone so excuse the quality.
She is also the last one on the right here

Re: Is this Sabino ?
I had a black stallion, by a Tobiano (and I don't think any other pattern, none evident, anyway...) and the only white on him was a big "roan" splash on one side.
Now, I have a black mare whose only white is a "roan" splash on her face, on one side, and she is by a solid (Rabbit, although Rabbit does "hide" Splash, it's in there somewhere) o/o an Appy mare with no random white.
Rabbit has Splash way back (like a proper Pinto, then after that it has only been blue eyes and the occasional star) and the Appy I can go back five generations on with no leg or face white....so...???

I wonder if the roan thing is just another separate modifier and it's just often the tobiano that brings it out? But can show on it's own now and then too??
Re: Is this Sabino ?
I have wondered if, when homozygous, tobiano might not cause roaning...
No, it couldnt be homozygous as my colt that was mentioned...Sterling.....has a solid silver black dam. It does seem to be genetically dominant tho as a large percentage of the stallion, do have a patch of roaning around the hip area the same as the stallion. My palomino and white tobiano stallion who has no roaning, has produced a black filly with white feet and one roan patch, out of a silver black mare.
Re: Is this Sabino ?
I feel like it is a Tobiano marking with Sabino affecting it/adding to it.
