I spoke w/ my friend who breeds Foundation QHs and she told me she is waiting for genetic testing info on one of her colts. She thought he was a cremello, but his eyes looked a bit funny. Not the clear blue of DDs, she says he has some amber flecks in them, making his eye-color look ... odd ... to her.
Anyway, the reason she is genetic testing is someone told her the particular line he comes from has champagne in there and she is wondering if he IS a cremello or if he is a 1-cream & 1-champagne making him LOOK like a Cremello.
Is it possible for cream/champagne to mimic cremello in phenotype?

Yep it's possible, however this is a DD eye, so just because its not a true ice blue doesn't mean its not DD.

Oh and champagne creams are very heavy freckled

Yes, champagne + cream is called a pseudo-double dilute and can mimic double cream.
