Re: Geldings
no horse is perfect, but the faults mentioned are definitely SMALL faults....yes i had trouble finding any fault in the appy/fjord too....when you get into the nitty gritties, some might say hes a bit long bodied, but really, i have trouble even saying a bad word about any lesson horse...they are saints!
Re: Geldings
Wow, you all are soo nice! I was expecting them to get ripped to pieces, but I guess I hadn't ever really looked at their conformation. Since all except Bandit were in their mid to late twenties and were still going strong in those photos, it is a testament to having decent conformation.
Re: Geldings
for sure! most older lesson ponies do have serviceable conformation...thats how they got to the point of being a lesson horse. they took lots of hours of riding by various riders of questionable skill and still not only stayed sound, they stayed SANE! imagine if we only bred lesson horses...there would be some DAMN nice horses in the world. those guys have proved themselves over their lifetime to be sound, sane and smart. what more can you ask for?
Re: Geldings
they have perfect conformation for lesson horses LMAO! nice weight and all seem to have a well set neck (except shorty, who looks like he might go a bit high). a couple are a little sickle hocked (shorty, bandit) or camped out behind (romeo, charlie) romeo looks like his shoulder might be a bit upright, but hard to say. charlie looks a bit downhill, bandit's neck might be a bit short and i think bandits pasterns are a bit on the long side but none of that really matters...i don't expect much from a nice lesson horse, they can be backwards and inside out as long as they do their job and keep kids safe, they are perfect just as they are!
