So who's breeding anything this year???

I've decided I have a plan and want to breed Fortune this year. I feel like a cad as I was so convinced a foal free 2010 was the way to go. But after having Ditto, I'd really like to have another Phoenix prefix foal. So I am going to. It will be another keeper and hopefully a filly I can cross with Frodo. I feel somewhat like a cad, but since I'll be keeping it, not so much. So who else is breeding this year? Or even fantasy breeding... What stallion or mare would you like to get a foal from this year?

My mom might breed 2 mares this year, undecided which ones (will have conformation pictures soon for you guys to judge) to our buckskin stud. I personally want to breed my mini donkey to our varnish mini and hopefully get a loud hinny foal that I can use to cart.
So is that a Solo brother Sara?
Nope, that would be a first-time cross. The mare is (shhhhhh) a pony-sized Arab. She beats warmbloods and thoroughbreds in the jumpers. :D

I'm not rebreeding Solo's mom this year because I want to ride her for a while. I'll probably repeat the cross in a couple years though.

Not really sure yet.....Cherish has not come back into season so it may be she took before the Lami struck .....She is so much better and sound now so am hoping to turn her out tonight if all goes well. I will run her with Appy this summer but if no joy then I will give up on the idea...I know when I am beat !! LOL ! Will be a shame though as I so wanted a foal from him and she has loved being a mum I was told by her previous owner.

Krickette he's really cute. Is he an Arab?
Nope
His dam is Hanoverian, sire is Holstiener. I think they are calling him a Holstiener too.

My silver bay waler x arab mare may be put to a black arabian stallion. Depends if the lady leasing the mare can organise it. There is a couple she maybe able to choose from. Both are very good saddle horses and aren't breed for just their looks or colour but good funtionality (is there such a word?) as a riding horse. The mare would be coming back to me and the foal would be mine. Fingers crossed.

I'm putting four really good mares to a Fewspot....I want some bright patterns in my field again!!!
I shall put two mares to Carlos, just to keep him happy, but I am not breeding anything I cannot keep or would not, in theory at least, want to keep!!!

I'm not breeding (again :( ) because I cant really keep another horse and dont want to sell any that I have now. The only way would be if someone wanted to borrow/lease Classy. *oogles at Cougar*
It feels like such a waste not to breed her.

Plan is to breed Pearl, Misty, Pepper, and the new mare via AI. Probably also that one mare we still need to go collect. Dream is to ET Misty and have 2 foals, one via AI, one via our resident stallion.

Can you expand Admin?
Is it the horse market, the economy, or not enough time?
I struggle with my plans for a foal free 2010, but the timing is right for breeding to an outside stallion, so on the one mare, I've decided to go ahead and do it. The foal will be a keeper anyway as I want at least 2 prefix foals to market.

:laugh1 Its a combination of factors. With the new baby coming I'm going to be squeezed for time and money and probably won't have much for those I already have. Plus with the economy the way it is...Its just a good time to lay off breeding for a while.

I was all sad not to be breeding anything this year, but then I remembered! I'm probably putting Cisco to a friend's mare this July. Oh, btw, he turned 2 on Friday the 8th!
The cross will either be bay or buckskin. She is an OTTB, and the resulting foal will be kept as her future personal mount. She is a maiden however, do you think this would be a bad idea or try it? Either way I think we're going to give it a go, but I'd be interested in hearing some opinions.

This past winter, Cisco Kid = buckskin R.P.S.I. stud by Mirabeau and o/o a 3rd level Dressage Trakehner.

And at a few outings this past year, Amerricos Jewel = bay OTTB event mare.
