So....

Stallion owner wants pics of Cyn. Next Saturday I will have some real photos taken, but....today I 'spearmented. And...well what the heck kind of look do you send? Do you think you'd want to see anything like these? I don't know which way to go next Saturday..... fun stuff? And I doubt she'll want to see chunky because he's an arab (the sire)? But....I can make him look different depending......

Omg wasn't he a baby!?! He really has grown up :love

no input on which photos to send, I'm clueless there, but he looks really good :)

Jenks Fri, 06/11/2010 - 22:25

Yes! He is still a baby! He turned 4 in March and is being really barely backed for a few minutes a week....I just emailed you! Thanks!

Heidi Fri, 06/11/2010 - 23:32

Interested in doing any costume pics with my Renn costumes?
Also ... if you've got a man, I've also got a kilt and broadword! *wiggles eyebrows up/down*

TheSwingHorse Fri, 06/11/2010 - 23:50

Is it for breeding? When I request photos of a mare, I want to see conformation shots and working shots if she isn't just a broodmare.

tjuri Sun, 06/13/2010 - 12:59

Hey Swinghorse, can you post a link to the stallions in your signature?????

I can just SEE me trying to stay on now.....I am seriously too long in the leg for Cyn AND I can't sit on him saddleless when he's moving! LOL my knees are almost under him.....it would look ridiculous!
.

Swing - This is for the owner of the sire of this gelding....To see how he's looking.

slaneyrose Sun, 06/13/2010 - 18:40

I LOVE that first pic of you and Cyn!! Its gorgeous! :HB :HB :ymdaydream:

Heidi Sun, 06/13/2010 - 23:17

You're avoiding the question! We could do standing photos and/or have the kilted man holding the horse to stand. The long skirts look beautiful and you usually don't even see the leg. I also did pics in my dressage saddle and they looked fine with the Renn costume. We can drape the skirt so you don't see the cantle bumping the fabric out behind.
If he has worn a blanket, he can do a skirt on a rider for a few minutes.
Game?
I'm really trying to learn about my camera and just tried some 'portrait' settings with the zoom lens that looked AMAZING with the subject in focus and the background soft-fuzz focused.

Jenks Mon, 06/14/2010 - 08:16

Thanks all! Slaney - that's actually not me - it's my trainer! I'm about a foot and a half taller than she is.....she and my daughter both fit better on Cyn than I do! I'll find a pic of me on him - my feet are down to his cannon bones! Ok - well maybe it's not as bad as I thought:

OK OK Heidi! Jeez - photoshoot saturday - Glacia is bringing out her big nice camera too! And IF your gown fits me? I'll go a shot or two! LOLOLOL I'll see if I get Red to don the kilt though! LOL

And ya know? How the HOLY HECK did I get two steep rumped half arabs? ? Even my paint mare has a nice flatter pelvic angle than they do.... I can understand Khaos' because my arab mare is more angled if not exactly steep, but Khaos' sire is steeper rumped so I get that. But Both Cyn's parents are flat crouped and have a less severe pelvic angle.....

Thanks Lipi! I think he's a little long in the toe on one front and in the heel on the other other because my farrier had a baby (2 weeks late for trim now) and I think I'm switching teams. I did some filing on them today....and....I need nippers in a bad way. Once I get him back to norm, I may try some moving shots again.

rodeoratdogs Mon, 06/14/2010 - 23:56

I like the first pic alot, the one with you on him makes him look tiny....how tall is he? is he short or are you just tall?

Morgan Tue, 06/15/2010 - 00:22

Farrier had a baby as in the farrier HAD the baby or has a wife that had the baby?
I'm starting to have this idea that I need a second, non dangerous, career option ready if I'm ever going to get married. (not that there's any current prospect but, you know, at my age the thought occurs somewhat frequently XD)

Both! He's 15.1 and I'm 5'11" ish. He's narrow in the body I think though. I hope he will fill out some - he turned four in March.

Morgan - the farrier's wife had the baby and he subsequently got sick and hasn't been out. But now I'm looking for a different kind of farrier..... your kind. Funny - I'm thinking that now my kids are older (and I'm inspired by the book) that I can learn a lot more dangerous stuff! Like hoof care and farrier ship (?) to be a farrier (?) or at least to do some rasping in between farrier visits.

I rasped my thumb knuckle right off yesterday. I need gloves for sure - and to follow direction instead of holding the hoof and trying to get one last edge off.

Morgan Tue, 06/15/2010 - 08:56

That's awesome Jenks! That's how I got started, I wanted to be able to work on my own horses cause I couldn't get the farrier out often enough after the move, started reading and really got sucked into it. Do be very careful with your research, check sources before you do anything, there is a lot of stuff on the internet that has no basis to be called natural at all and can be dangerous. Stick with Jackson, Ramey, La Piere and Ovnicek (his barefoot work's alright, although there is nothing natural about his shoes).

My experience was that I really tore up my hands and arms for the first 2-3 years or so and now I cut myself once every few months when I'm tired. I actually think I'm missing nerve ending or something, I don't even notice the rasp nicks until I or someone sees blood. :? Knife cuts though are rarer and do hurt. Tip: stick to nippers to pull out false soles if they go "clink" when your knife touches them. Deep thumb slices are no fun. :oops: When you are doing this more often you might want to upgrade your gloves, you'll wear through leather and the rest in no time at all especially until you can work a hoof on your lap instead of holding with hands. I use these kevlar gloves now that last me 6 months to a year. You do have to watch it cause your thumb and two finger tips are exposed but I find that handy for being able to touch the horse directly without taking gloves off. http://www.hoofprints.com/gloves.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Oh Lol! yeah 15.1 is a big horse to me I'm 5'2"! so I like all my horses about 15h. or shorter

I'm on Ramey now - he lives in GA - and they were quick. I got the book the next day after I ordered. It will likely be awhile before I dare decide a "false" sole!!!! I wish they would call me back! There must be a really high demand around here..... Once I get at least the peripherals down some, hopefully this weekend, i will snap some bottom and side shots and send them to you....

Alicia - I have a 15.2 paint mare that is his mother that has almost enough girth for my legs! And she looks a lot bigger, but isn't much taller....

critterkeeper Tue, 06/15/2010 - 17:27

Wow, I remember when Cyn was foaled...about a month before Destiny - hard to believe they're almost all grown up... :toast .

Destiny has started growing again the past couple of months and is just a "hair" under 15 right now (was starting to think she'd never get there - stayed at 14.2 for nearly 18 months :BH ), so she "may" hit 15.2 like Akina was :ympray: . Oh, and surprise of surprises, Luna has hit 14.3 now and is still growing :toast (remember when we didn't think he'd even hit 14  )
