She's arriving today! And now I have the proof

The older of the two mares we're getting is arriving today, around 2 PM. She's registered as a black, but, as we know, that can be deceiving...especially as her now 4yo son looked buckskin last time I saw him... Diane

got some pix, but they are still in the camera. Not sure how well they turned out as she was being a bit of a b*tch--concerned about being haltered and led off again, I think, cuz she didn't want to know us, just wanted to run around the big 15+ acre paddock. LOL

She's bigger than I remember, if she's not 16hh, she's damned close to it. I'm 5'5" and her withers is above my eye level. She "looks black", but I know that she and our stallion produced a colt that looks buckskinnish, and our stallion is Eeaa (didn't test for cream tho', and of course there's the dun possibility). Will probably colour test her when we have to do PV on the foal--she's heading to the vet's come spring for AI to Wap Spotted.

Again, a horse with "issues" (sigh, why do we always seem to end up with those? LOL), but from where I don't know--she's one of these mares that seems to have been bounced around a lot, and at 20, they can be bounced quite a bit. No riding her with just a halter and saddle, that seems to be an invitation for a bronco session. She does have little scars on the corners of her mouth, and she's a lot happier with little to no bit contact than with 'normal' contact. Might have to have a play with bits since she can take it into her head that hooning off is a good idea, and then the brakes are seriously impaired. But it's going to be a while before I can even consider going on the road--need to get myself back into shape first, in the arena.

So, colour appears to be black, she has black spots, what appears to be light roaning thru' neck/chest/etc.--can't quite determine if it is appy roaning or not, and she sports a gorgeous hip blanket. All in all, she's a lot nicer than I remember, but then the last time I saw her, she was covered by both a winter blanket and a coat of mud. :laugh1 A little more upright in the shoulder than I prefer, but I think that can be corrected by crossing her with Wap Spotted.

more a case of the software and memory card docking thingy are attached to his computer, and well, when I'm home, he's the one usually on his computer I'm usually too fried to be bothered even unpacking my lappie from its case. As it was, we were both in bed by 9:30 last night--good thing I recorded Torchwood cuz I know I have no idea what happened...but then again, I'm still trying to catch up with the shows I recorded last week, and normally watch on Saturday AM, when I'm home alone and basically vegging while the washer machine is running...maybe this week things will slow down (unless the guy who is thinking of taking the standy lawnmower decides to come down this weekend instead of next month like he suggested).

Hubby had to work to get those shots--she wasn't having a bar of humans after halter and lead was taken off...playmates, grazing, what the heck did she need humans for? LOL What was a total hoot was the gal who had been riding her went to give her some 'good-bye' apples, and she still wouldn't come close! Think she was afraid that she was going to get loaded back into the trailer! :laugh1 I do have to say she does comprehend the meaning of a bucket in a human's hand very well, tho'!! :rofl
