today hubby and I found our gorgoues lil roan QH colt dead....we had searched for over an hour for him, the grass is so tall and we had 20 acres to search, but his mum knew where he was :-( It looks like he may have been bitten by a snake, there isnt a mark on him but there are some dots like puncture marks, and there didnt look like signs of a struggle, the grass being so tall would have showed if he struggled. Oh no!! I'm so sorry :( A friend lost a week old colt to snake bite a few weeks ago, it's such a shitty thing to happen :( RIP Stormy

I am so sorry for your loss... :sad It is so hard when we lose one of our "babies", but know that he is running free and happy over the Rainbow Bridge, all the while skipping among the stars....

I just had to say, my heart skips a beat every time I see this topic. The mare in my avatar is called Stormy and she's pretty special to me, I lost her filly last year too. I just take a deep breath. I understand where you are at anyway! ((hugs))

Did you save some tail hairs? You could send them to be made into a bracelet or even some of that horse hair pottery. I've got some of sheba and troopers tails and when I lose Nike I'm going to have the three braided into a bracelet.

No I didnt, I sent them all in for DNA. I have hjairs form my gelding I lost in 2009 (he was my ALL) and Id like one day to make them into something :)
