quick trailering question

It's been ages since I hauled a horse more than an hour or two... at what length of trailer trip would you say you would need to stop and offer water?

We like to stop every three to four hours. We'll off-load the horses and let them graze for awhile, and take them to a creek for water if there's one nearby. Our horses are good haulers and good loaders, so we can unload them anywhere. With horses that aren't so well traveled, it might be safer to leave them in the trailer and offer them water there.

I pondered it for a while after I posted this and decided just to soak his hay. He's going to be terribly nervous. Thanks though!
