The New Pony

Heidi Fri, 10/15/2010 - 11:32

Is he part giraffe? He's got a NECK on him!
...looks like he's blending well w/ the other horses.

Jenks Fri, 10/15/2010 - 12:18

He's being quite the gentleman. Serenity on the other hand? She is the one. Weird because she is the low one. She has bitten the crap out of him, kicked him, pawed (?) reared on him. She is being such a witch! Khaos is just interested, though he did take a cheap shot, bit him, and got a kick in return. But KK keeps going out there to him for a sniff now.

And the neck fits his ginormous head!

Jenks Sat, 10/16/2010 - 08:07

I think I love him....he is so easy - so far anyway.

Well he's in (the herd) now. That was pretty quick. He came in last night and did really well in his stall - they all got bran mash and he loved it. I walked in this morning and his whole hindquarters were visible above the stall door. He looked like an adult standing in a baby pool. He's not THAT big, but he's just so much bigger....

He's not pretty, but he is what I need right now! And a bombproof horse is always useful.

Oh my Bunny! I was wrong! He's not a giraffe .... he's a MOOSE!

*cue Commodores:
Awwwwwwwwwww he's a briiiick ...... house.
He's mighty mighty! He's letting it all hang out.
Awwwww he's a briiick ..... house!

Jenks Sat, 10/16/2010 - 10:05

Heh....House....I'll see if it sticks! He doesn't have a name. Sad eh? I'm going to see if I can track down where he came from. He fell into some odd situations the last few owners. Given for money owed on horse feed to the last owner.

He was in a pasture with a 2 year old 17hh dun named Moose that's twice as wide at Jen's house! He (the red horse) didn't look as Moose like then - I told Jen yesterday Moose needs renaming to Elephant. The boy is outrageously huge.

Jenks Sun, 10/17/2010 - 06:16

Red has been sticking, but my husband's nickname is Red. It could still work....Last night my MIL asked how Red was doing and I instantly began talking about the horse....then stopped and asked - or did you mean Mark? LOL Even funnier that she did mean the horse.

He's running the show now too. For the moment anyway. He stirred it up. He came in first last night, then Khaos, then Serenity, then Lacy.... Lacy is ALWAYS first in the barn. But he on guard for them, maybe she'll like getting a break.

Jenks Sun, 10/17/2010 - 08:36

Thanks! You have no idea how good these pics make him look! He's quite ugly just standing there....

Jenks Sun, 10/17/2010 - 11:13

:D Then I'll come see your hay barn flooring!!! I'm about to go to the horse park now - region 3 dressage championship and a hunter jumper show as well! My Husband can go over to the knife and gun show going on while I tool around! Have you gone up there lately?

rodeoratdogs Sun, 10/17/2010 - 11:17

How tall is he?, his neck length and set looks like he may be part saddlebred to me.

Jenks Sun, 10/17/2010 - 11:22

That's my theory as well Alicia! He reminds me of my friend's old saddlebred Rambo who died about a year and a half ago. But his neck is set lower. He looks like a horse you ride with a shotgun around your property! I haven't sticked him, but I think he's 16 or over....His withers are EXTREMELY high, if I were going by just his back, he'd just beat Lacy who is 15.2 or so.... Also - if anyone has an English saddle for a really high withered horse? I need it. NONE of my saddles fit him of course. My trainer is going to bring her wintec over and we will try every gullet she has, but she doubts any will work.

Oh well, when you said Pony I thought you meant literally...lol, is he gaited at all?

rodeoratdogs Sun, 10/17/2010 - 20:38
Nah... not gaited, but definitely different.
Probably kinda sorta because he is a cross of some sort but I difinately see ASB.

accphotography Sun, 10/17/2010 - 20:41

I agree ASB cross that just didn't get the gaits (some say ASBs aren't exactly naturally gaited anyway).

Heidi Mon, 10/18/2010 - 11:28

I kinda think that last pic of him shows a bit of a slow-ish type of running walk. It could just be the way the photo captured his movement, but 'gaited?' was the first thought that popped into my head when I saw it.

I haven't been to the HP in a long time. I'll give you a holler and try to come out this or next weekend.

Jenks Mon, 10/18/2010 - 11:47

Ya -it is real close isn't it? I wondered if he were shod in a particular way if he'd be moving more ASB looking! LOL That one first shot looks like a low level (not high stepping) trot on some ASBs, ASH's, HAs and Arabs I've seen doing Country Pleasure. Some elastics and I bet he'd qualify (not that THAT will happen!) But....anywho.

The HP seems to be getting more and more events going on! The Gun and Knife show was.....well - I'll just say there were some real interesting looking characters....

Jenks Sat, 10/23/2010 - 11:37

I LOVE him! LOL

I know I look like DOO, but I fit him! I think....

[img]http://i694.photobucket.com/albums/vv30…]

He's not quite a tank, but Red (my husband) has been calling him that.... any other suggestions?

We are both super out of shape. He can only hold himself for a stride or two in the canter. And I? After sensitive arabs (and a sensitive paint), I will need to work on my leg. Wow. Really have ta push him over. We will both be working on it!

I got some shots of Glacia trotting him for a sec:

rodeoratdogs Sat, 10/23/2010 - 12:15

Yeah I think you fit him well, he looks quite handsome under saddle. How about Tucker, he looks like a Tucker to me.

Jenks Sat, 10/23/2010 - 18:11

Tucker...that could work....Tuck? I was thinking like Fred. One syllable! LOL

rodeoratdogs Sat, 10/23/2010 - 18:13

Yeah that was what I was thinking too, that Tuck was not to far off from Tank right?

Jenks Mon, 10/25/2010 - 11:11

They called him Bubba or Red but really didn't ever commit to a name for him. Funny thing though - my first boyfriend's nick name was Bubba, and my husband's nick name is Red. Both red-heads too.... Hey Red, I'm going out to ride Bubba or Red. The comments were too much to take (either way) for me.....boys

Jenks Mon, 10/25/2010 - 11:16

PS - I think we found out why he is not an eventer anymore.... He sat back on the tie wall yesterday. He was so scared, but I don't know why.... something to work on...... We fixed Lacy somehow, I hope we can fix him too.
