Look what I just got...

Well, I wasn't horse shopping... Promise! But the lady that owns this ranch and I chat and window shop together. I had mentioned that I was going to start advertising my palomino Section A and she offered her Half Welsh who is kid broke and a love. So we're trading! The only thing that is bad/good is that the mare is pregnant by their Section A grulla. I can't resolve my feelings if this makes be excited or fearful. LOL. At any rate, she'll be a good family pony for the kids to toodle around on. My Section A wasn't ever going to be a kids pony soon and with her size it really limits what she could do. So I think it's a good trade. Not excited about keeping a white horse though! Forgot the link! http://www.dunhamranch.com/dreamy.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There is also more pictures of her being messed with on the sales page.

That's sounds like a great trade to me - a kid loving pony? They're priceless. Plus she's a perlino? And expecting? Nice.

Andrea Thu, 06/25/2009 - 15:15

LOL. That's what I was thinking. I know she's not show horse halter material, but if she'll pack my kids around without killin them, I'll be happy!

Andrea Thu, 06/25/2009 - 15:20

Yes! He went to the stallion station in Woodland Hills.
I think as long as the foal isn't smokey black, I'll be happy. Dun would be very cool! Double Dilute Dun would be awesome! I don't see many of them.
I was so hoping Trigger had dun, but she tested him and no...

And if you all talk to Jenn... Make sure she knows she got the better end of the deal ;) :D

all that sass Thu, 06/25/2009 - 15:42

i would like to offer to foal her out in exchange for the foal :) mare and stallion are AWESOME!!!! be EXCITED!

accphotography Thu, 06/25/2009 - 15:43

I'd be hoping for a smokey grulla if she were mine. A dunalino could be quite cool though. (Ooooh a smokey cream dun! *drools*)

Andrea Thu, 06/25/2009 - 16:12

Dunalino? Is that possible if she hetrozygous for black? I'd like anything but a smokey black and even then it's not a big deal. It's just the added mouth. I was trying not to add anything to my herd! But I need a good kids pony. Blondie is a really nice Section A, but I wouldn't be able to use her for the kids for a while.
So, ok. I'm excited! Just have to do the vet check and they'll wean Trigger in August I think.

CMhorses Thu, 06/25/2009 - 16:18

A dunalino as in palomino dun would be impossible since it said she tested homozygous black but maybe she meant a perlino dun?

Andrea Thu, 06/25/2009 - 16:41

See.. Here you guys got me all excited about babies again!
I guess it'll still be my prefix since I own the mare, just won't be Frodo's baby. I don't think Frodo would be a good cross her though. Halfs need to be taller to do well in the ring and I'm not sure I'll be using her for breeding anyway. She's by Rocko's Gold which is fabulous, but I'll really have to take a look at her in person. For now, she'll be my kids' toodle pony and pony parties as needed.

accphotography Thu, 06/25/2009 - 19:35

Oops I missed that she is homozygous black. Yup your only choices are buckskin, smokey black, dunskin, smokey grulla, perlino, smokey cream, perlino dun, smokey cream dun. Still a pretty big list and a very cool one.

PamelaTX Thu, 06/25/2009 - 20:37

Oh CONGRATS!!! She's adorable!! Can't wait to see that baby!!
Could she have a smoky cream grullo? That would awesome!!

I so want her AQHA Grulla filly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But alas she's a little out of my price range!! But LOVE her!!
lol Tell her she needs to come down some on her!!! ;)

Andrea Thu, 06/25/2009 - 23:33

She's very willing to take offers... The filly is very nice! She makes deals all the time... doesn't hurt to ask... ;)

Well I don't think she'd come down to my price range!! :sad
I only paid $800 for Lacey & $900 for Jackie. And I just finished paying off Jackie. Luckily I got "custody" of her while I paid her off, not many would do that.
I got LUCKY & hauling on Lacey from Iowa to TX was $300 & Jackie's breeders only charged me $275 to bring her from TN to TX.
But I so LOVE that filly!!! NICE!!!!

Well, you know how I feel about that stallion, but if you can sell the foal on his name, that's great!!
She looks like a nice little mare, good luck keeping her clean!!! :rofl

Andrea Fri, 06/26/2009 - 10:23

Yeah, I'm not worried about the stallion. He's cute whether you want dun in Welsh or not. Not saying I disagree, but the baby will be registered half, so it wouldn't expected to be as typey. It'll just be a cute kids pony someday.
I must say, this year I've seen two really nice dun foals. The dun all came from Promise Ranch, but the other side really put some type into them. It'll be interesting to see what they mature into.
Also the silver filly at scarsborough is for sale if anyone were interested.
Annnddd! I am in LOVE with the Lochnivar Pandora colt! What a doll! He looks just like Pandora! Why can't I have 20 acres????

Sara Fri, 06/26/2009 - 22:46

I did read the thread but was really just skimming and then suddenly the mention of Lochinvar at the end. I didn't know how it tied in. Maybe it was unrelated. :)

Bannerminis Sat, 06/27/2009 - 05:12

I think she is a very pretty mare and I think its exciting that she is in foal for next yr. Best of luck with her she looks like a total doll
