Just for fun, who would you have in your barn???

OK, money no object, I just won $100000000.00000 on th lottery and I'll buy you anything you can actually look after properly, and transport it to your house. Who would you have?? It has to be alive (as opposed to a horse form the past, I am a millionaire not The Doctor) It has to be for sale (no prising loved animals form screaming owners!!!) It can be anywhere in the world. It does not have to be on this board, but if it isn't a description or picture would be helpful. I'll get you started. I will take just about any of Innishfael's horses, just to sit and look at them in the field, or to have professionally trained to drive. I'd take Dragon in a heartbeat but I am assuming he is not for sale (I would not sell him!!) I'll take any of Thorwood's stock and I'll have them trained and shown here under saddle (I even know which yard I'd send them to) once they have swept the board I'll settle down to breeding them. I have some AmShets in mind and if Thorwood does not throw a gasket at the idea, I would interbreed...... Minis?? Not sure. To be perfectly honest there just are not that many that are as sound or as good (without photoshop/starving/clipping to the skin etc) that I would have to buy them. And I do like my horses to look as good moving as they do standing still..... There are a number of Americans that I would buy from happily, Robin from Roko because she is as straight as a die- Parmela, because ditto (you need to go on LB to see these people, btw) For AmShets I'd go first to Lewella and then wherever she sent me, I have seen a lot I like but temperament is paramount. I like the Promise ponies but I am past my Welsh days and anyway, we do actually have ponies to equal them here, if you look (not knocking them, just saying) Since I am a billionaire, I would probably fly a few of the better UK Minis out to the states and hardship them, then get them shown out there for a season and bring them home again, because I do like proving my points!! And I would like to get some decent sized spots onto the already very smart Appy Minis. I like the Limestone Minis- I actually do not like their foundation animals but they were right and I was wrong, there, and they have some very nice, very sound, animals. Oh and I would like a Champagne Cougar daughter (or son if no-one would shoot me for gelding him) Forgot to say, I would like one of Supa's stallion's babies, and ditto Banner. Particularly outlandish coloured ones!!!! OK, over to you......

Maigray Fri, 12/09/2011 - 13:50

I can't manage another horse until after I sell one; no stallions either (bummer). I would like any of the Innishfael horses as well (Innishfael Oro and Innishfael Tribal are for sale, by the way). But I would prefer a mare from that program so I could breed her.

But if I had my druthers, and one already sold, I would want to find the big gray gelding bred by Ancientoaks. After being advertised to the highest bidder for one week, I made an offer and was turned down because the tax rebate would be higher if he were donated. Owner would not say where he was going and he's in the wind now.

If not him, I will take their bay filly out in California who is also for sale. If not her, I will take the bay A.O. breeze gelding out in Tennessee, who seems to be doing nothing. If not any of them, I will take a chestnut gelding here in Virginia, by Mannhattan out of an Arabian mare, who I inquired on after seeing him on Dreamhorse for $800.

CMhorses Fri, 12/09/2011 - 14:27

Oh man I would love to have a Cougar champagne filly. I still want a zebra mare, and a no light point black large standard or mammoth jenny.

rabbitsfizz Sat, 12/10/2011 - 08:56

People, I am a billionaire- you can have what you want!
I'll even buy the ranch so you can keep it- let your imaginations run wild....

lipigirl Sat, 12/10/2011 - 09:25

I would have a Champagne TWH stallion as my riding horse
i would have a fully trainer Lipizzaner stallion for fun
A Pearl Iberian who was tricked trained and also trained in Spanish walk
A Paso Fino Stallion for riding and showing
I would have a Thorogood pony for Brianna to show
My minis of course and......

Then I would still do therapy work with people and animals so would rescue horses and ponies, yep just rescue and enjoy it !

I would also have a lare estate for the animals and people to come and enjoy and grooms to help me look after them all.

Daylene Alford Sat, 12/10/2011 - 10:13

If you were going to buy me any horse I wanted, I would have to do alot of searching. I would want a well shown (performance only in a western) mature stallion at least 15h with a very good temperament. Dun coloration would be a plus but not necessary.

My dad had a stallion with a wonderful temperament when I was a girl. I remember riding him bareback with 2 of my friends (all 3 of us at once). So, I would be very picky about temperament.

It could take me years to find exactly what I want :rofl After I found the stallion I would like to get some mares to complement him.

doubleopi Sat, 12/10/2011 - 11:37

I love arabians. I already own a buckskin 3/4 arabian and would love to have her mom and 1/2 brother HMH Sophie and TT National Traditio respectively.
But mostly what I think would be really cool is to be able to acquire the unwanted horses that just need some groceries and training and a bit of loving and get them to a point that they can just be good, reliable family type mounts.

Songcatcher Sat, 12/10/2011 - 13:03

Well Jane, since you are a billionaire and you are buying, I would love to have a coal Black (NON FADING) Arabian stallion, homozygous for Black, not over 15 hands high, possibly a white star, but no other white. Extreme dishy Arab head. Of course if I were to go with big horses, I would have to have more land, a new barn, and then a small band of mares to keep him company. No Grays. Nothing over 15 hh. I do NOT like these new giants pretending to be Arabs. JMO

Monsterpony Sat, 12/10/2011 - 15:26

Oh dear...you asked for it.

-A team of four matched driving Welshes
-A team of four matched driving drafts (probably Percherons, but I am less picky)
-A naturally (correctly! no pacey stuff) gaited 16hh+ TWH
-A naturally gaited Peruvian Paso
-A broodmare string (~5 or so) of perfectly conformed RID mares
-A really nice, well-bred ISH eventer/fox-hunter
-A really nice, well-bred Welsh D for dressage and driving- I'd take Cardi if he was for sale or another like him
-A string of Argentine Polo ponies or Criollos for polo and polocrosse
-A team of two matched driving Hackney Horses
-A really nice, well-bred QH that is trained for ranch work
-A few other nice, well-built saddle horses

I would then need a place to keep them all. My facility needs to include enough turnout areas for all horses (I don't keep horses in stalls). Also, a full sized indoor polo arena with premium footing plus a covered multipurpose arena, a covered dressage ring and one or two covered round pens. The multipurpose ring would need equipment for stadium jumping, driving courses, western gaming, gymkhana and any other thing I could need. Also on the facility, I want rehab equipment such as a swimming pool and a hyperbaric chamber.

Outside, I want a couple more large riding arenas, a dressage ring and a few round pens. I also want at least two perfectly groomed polo fields that are wide enough to double as polocrosse fields. I also need enough property to put up a traditional cross country course for 3-day eventing and a cross country driving course for CDE. I also need some acreage for my cattle so I can use my QH.

I want custom made saddles and/or harnesses for every horse that are perfectly fitted and balanced. I need several styles of cart for any kind of driving from your basic two-wheeled training to fanciest presentation carts and carriages including some really nice cross-country and marathon carts. I need a full range of polo mallets and one of those mechanical hitting cage horses grades your skills. I also need a functioning reproductive lab.

I could probably go on, but I think you are out of money at this point.

Maigray Sat, 12/10/2011 - 16:43

Oh well, in that case...In addition to all of the above, I will take these horses who are currently for sale: an Arabian stallion named Capt. Han Solo and another named Celzeus; a little crossbred pinto mare named Kholored by Love; mares named TA Anabelle and TA Europe. I will need a big farm, ideally 100+ acres, ideally on the east coast, with an extensive network of trails. Various facilities would be nice, but I can also tailor it to what I want. I'm sure I'll think of more.

Dogrose Sat, 12/10/2011 - 19:34

I can't find one online but in my head my dream horse is a blue eyed splash white brown, liver or silver Icelandic mare (ride and drive), one that goes without much effort and doesn't take much effort to ride. With my RA even that would probably be too much for me. Unless you include private medical treatment and all the best modern expensive drugs that the NHS can't afford in the package

rabbitsfizz Sun, 12/11/2011 - 12:36

OH, BUPA at the very least, is a given!

I wouldn't mind either, I might get on top of these blasted migraines then...

NZ Appaloosas Sun, 12/11/2011 - 20:09

Okay, there's a colt in Australia I'd like to have and of course a HZ champagne mare bred to Cougar, a Chocklate Confetti mare that's ApHC-registered, a mare that's currently in TX, bred to my friend in VA's stallion, another mare that's currently preggers in OK but sent to the girl in TX and bred to the stallion she acquired when another friend of mine passed away a couple years ago (mare's for the hubby, foal is for me), uhm, a roany mare that's in VA bred to the girl in TX's PP stallion...that's it off the top of my head. Do I get to come back after doing some looking around? :rofl

rabbitsfizz Mon, 12/12/2011 - 14:59

And, maybe when I go to pick up my Innishfael horses I could be led around on Dragon? Being led is all I am up to these days but I would truly love to be able to say I rode him!!
I'd get a heck of a thrill showing Throwgoods ponies in harness, though.....

NZ Appaloosas Mon, 12/12/2011 - 17:42

Yes, you'd definitely be able to brag you rode him...I remember when I got thrown up on Boomerang, and got led around while he was being cooled down at a show in Dublin waaaaay too many years ago. Didn't wash those pants for DAYS and boy did my mom catch it from me when she snuck into my room and snagged them. ~x( ~x( ~x(

Oh my gosh... any of Innishfael's horses.

OR, with that much money, just genetically concoct me my dream horse. ;) I want a quarter horse the color of Elechtric LC but otherwise identical to my boy Blue(size, conformation, hair, mind, etc): http://www.facebook.com/KellysBlueKing

Please and thank you. ;)

rabbitsfizz Sat, 12/17/2011 - 13:43

Well, if we are going for genetic cocktails I'll have one of Thorwood's ponies, pattern and coloured like Dragon.
I'll call it Basilisk......

:rofl I didn't know hair came in any other color besides grey...I was born with it (well a grey spot in my black/seal brown hair)...been conpletely grey since my mid-20s...of course now most people just think I have platinum blonde hair....WRONG!

I will have to think on the ideal horse thing....I know I would love a matched pair of driving horses with a lovely white/gold carriage and can't forget the red/gold/black sleigh for winter travel...
