I lost Little Songs foal.....

After all the fuss the little wretch tried to have him on her own....this mare just can't do that, she red bags every time. No bag, no warning, just got down to find a foal. He was alive but obviously brain damaged from oxygen deprivation. He could stand with help but had poor coordination and kept falling. I got a good feed down him with a bottle and he seemed a bit brighter, but then the second feed he convulsed as he was drinking and aspirated and that really was the beginning of the end. He never did get up again and by three o'clock he just shook free in my arms..... Pretty, pretty colt, too, tiny and so petite. I am not putting Song back in foal, she has given me a daughter who does not do this, a granddaughter who made one of the highest prices I have ever got and a great grandson I have just got back who is a loud blanket spot!!! She owes me nothing so she can just chill now and get fat.

So sorry Rabbit! I know this has been a hard year for a lot of breeders for some reason!
I'm glad the mare is OK and will live a happy celibate life!

Do you have any more due Rabbit? Hopefully you will get to look forward to those, and maybe it is a good thing since now you have less to try and sell. Sorry for your loss Rabbit, I know it has to be hard. :(
