Great news!

I got enough money in graduation presents to send Jazz off for real training! I'm sure I'll be able to sell her after this and I'll probably get that money back haha. I just hope she doesn't hurt herself or jump out of his fences. http://www.outbackhorsemanship.com/index.html I'm taking her next weekend! I have to get her feet done and a coggins run first. Her spot opened up today, he was training somebody's friesian so if someone trusts him enough to send their expensive horse I guess he's good enough for Jazz. He offered for me to come look at the place this weekend, it's only about 30-45 minutes from my parent's house. So when I bring her I just bring the board money, then he charges by the hour for training. So every friday I'll come out and he'll put me on her and show me how she's coming and give me a little lesson, then I'll pay him for the number of hours he rode her that week. It sounds like a great plan! So he's gonna teach her that she isn't a dog and can't play chase in the pasture or rear up on other horses while people are on them or anything dumb like that, the things that make me most nervous about selling her, and also just train her to be a good riding horse. He grew up doing dressage and jumping so he can do some specialized things if he has time. I am just gonna pay for a month for now and then try to sell her. He has trained horses for the Hewlett's before, they're the owners of Holly Hill, the nicest barn in town, they have like huge eventing competitions and clinics with famous people haha. So since Mrs Tracy recommended him I think I'm going to like him! She says he has a really gentle and natural way with horses. So once she's done I'll try to sell her to somebody at Holly Hill! Or I might decide she's way too fabulous and I need her all for myself, but I'm trying to stay away from that temptation haha!

So when Jazz got to the trainer their jaws all dropped. He is so impressed with her looks. Attitude wise he said she was on her way to becoming a monster.
During the first week he did ground work, with a little bit of ponying her. He took a video of her and sent it to the owner of the nicest 3day barn in the area, and she was super impressed and wants him to bring her by once he's got her going well.
I was SO impressed with the attitude change. He put her in a stall and when he's done using the roundpen he moves the gates so that she can get in there when she wants from her stall.
I was watching as he set that up and she was acting a little antsy, but he opened the stall and she stood there and waited. Then he turned and led her to the roundpen with no halter, and when he said whoa she stopped and waited. A week ago she would have just flat run him over. In the pen she was relaxed, definitely getting more confidence. She had her head low next to him and was doing better at not anticipating and waiting to be told instead.
I go again Friday to see how she's doing.

The main update is I've decided that she is never coming home. :(
its bittersweet. I know if she comes home I wont sell her.

If I can't sell her after this session I will send her to the next trainer, for dressage and some jumping. I think she could be a good 3day horse. I am not putting a set price on her. I have KY minimum in my head though. I'm going to give this trainer a commission if he can help get her sold. Its for the best. :((

I'm sorry you are sad about giving her up. But it is nice to hear how well she is being received, how well she is doing and how your plans for her are coming to fruition.

OMG. She's amazing. She really is. I had to get off before I fell in love all over again!

[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
She's SOLID muscle!
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
Learning to listen and not anticipate
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
He leads her without a leadrope, it's pretty incredible considering this horse was an ELEPHANT and had no respect for personal space.
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
She's still a little bratty, but she's getting over it.
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
Learning to hold her head correctly, so far she's over flexing quite a bit but she's getting the jist of giving in to pressure.
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
She's cantering under saddle much better! Not always picking up the correct lead yet, and she still randomly does flying lead changes for fun in straightaways
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
Bratty pony is bratty. She's also in heat and being worked near the stud, but anyway... She's a princess and wants to do things her way. She's doing what she's asked but she's not going to be pretty about it yet.
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
I don't even care how over flexed she is, I'm just shocked! She's gorgeous!
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
Being a turd but gosh she's pretty when she's angry!
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
calm and happy!
[img]https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hp…]
My turn!

Seriously, it was incredible! She's very bouncy, but she's still finding her stride, plus, I'm used to Nike who's basically a rocking horse.

Thank y'all!!!! It means a lot!

I really am proud, I can't believe how fantastic she is, I'm so happy!!

And I'm selling her because the timing just isn't right. She should be a show horse, and I'm just starting my life. I don't have the time or money to show. I would end up throwing her back in the pasture and wasting her and it's not fair for her. She's super smart, maybe a little too smart, she can't sit around forever or she'll become a monster.
so if you know anyone looking, I swear she could do anything!

I'm going out to see her again on Friday. If any of you have suggestions of things I should be asking or anything like that feel free to help me out here. I'm getting nervous, I know there's no reason for it, it's just odd for her to not be here with me you know?
Also, any help with pricing? I've got my mental number I'm not going to go below, but what kind of offers do you think I could potentially get?
Thanks!

She looks fabulous! I'm so happy for you. Her coloring is really striking! If you want to market her as green, but going nicely, I would say put her in the $1500-2500 range, maybe a little higher depending on how she is going. If you're serious about her potential as an eventer, she'll need to be shown under english tack, and also taking jumps. You can go up into the $3000-4000 range with that. If you can advertise as going english and western, trail riding, can jump a small course, taking obstacles, and in general going very well, I would go $4-5000 range, or higher. Market could be different in your area, though. What are green broke eventing horses going for around you?
