Re: Cannon measurements
Thanks for the compliments. Everyone always loves Jesse  And the Fjords were actually interesting because we have a wide range of Fjord type, but the cannon measurements were pretty uniform. I don't think the Mustang is that posty on the backend...maybe its the angle? Beetle, on the other hand, is that upright and moves like it  I sure adore each of them in their own way though. I'll have to post some pictures of the costume day of camp. Any pony that puts up with the decorations our children manage to put on them is worth its weight in gold. At a recent dressage show, a horse spooked and ran through the fence, dragging half the chain into the arena with it while one of our students was showing and the other of our horses were standing next to the arena. Not a single one of our horses did more than prick an ear and the one in the arena finished the test without a pause. I love my ponies :love
I did all the measurements and then did a photoshoot with them all to try and get good pictures for the photo gallery. Of course, they all refused to stand next to my attempt at a neutral backdrop and were diving for the little bits of dried up weeds along the edges of the mats *eye roll* I am going to try to photoshoot again soon (hopefully before winter coats appear) with a larger backdrop and more mats so they are better positioned.
Just scrolling through and comparing the body types is really interesting! Despite postiness, I like the mustang....ya the Fjords are cool too
Ok, I just double checked on the postiness and, holy snap!, his hind legs are vertical! I never noticed that before. Well, it goes to show that the QH people that breed for extreme sickle hocks to aid in getting under to slide are not always right since he apparently has a major slide to him.
Re: Cannon measurements
I like him! I like Dreamy too, and Beetle is appealing to me too - but he looks more like a TB to me than a QH, or maybe an appendix, but I also double looked because I thought he was a she. Not sure why....generally "pretty"?
So - are any of them your personal horse?
Re: Cannon measurements
I don't have a horse of my own right now. The only one I ever did was my old appy boy for a few months before I placed him in the right home. And, until I find a job and make some money, I won't be owning one. I did the training and rehab work on several of them and am currently turning Sunny into a school pony.
Beetle is apparently an oddity because he was bred to be a reiner and didn't turn out with the conformation that they'd expected. We tend to get several horses with that story. Dreamy was suppose to be a sport pony, but who crosses a big boned draft pony with a big boned cob in order to get a lighter jumping pony? Dudley also has the breeding to be a big fancy warmblood. Bandit was a fence jumping accident...imagine the Fjord owner's horror when he popped out :D
Re: Cannon measurements
VERY cool information!! Interesting to see all the differences and similarities among the types and... wow. Just really cool.
I only have two to contribute and I forgot to weight tape them, though I do know one is 8" (14.2) and one is 8.5" (15.3+). Don't have current pics yet (still in the camera).
