Bought the first Avatar movie!

[img]http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:EVZcm6xc4_EDYM:http://www.collegian…] I was at Wally-World just before midnight tonight and bought the FIRST Avatar movie! It wasn't even off the pallet jack before I had my hands on it and hustled to the cashier with it. Woot! Woot!

You know what I discovered at the theater seeing Avatar? 3-D doesn't work for me! My sister is an opthalmic assistant and confirmed that it doesn't work for everyone. Every so often I would see something and think, "ok, yeah, that looks sort of 3-D" but everyone else thought it was absolutely amazing!

I'm still glad I saw it. The special effects were pretty cool, even all flat. :P

Cool!!! I haven't seen it yet to look forward to seeing the DVD!! I don't think I can see 3D either :? Although I haven't tried for a while now. Last time I think was at an IMax theatre and I couldn't see what everyone thought was amazing

My friend saw it at the theater in 2D cause she was afraid it would make her sick lol! I liked it a lot, even if it was just Pocahontas meets Fern Gully meets Dances With Wolves....
Apparently the next one is supposed to focus on like the ocean-y stuff, which im sure will be purdy

pocahontas in space anyone? lol.

The graphics were stunning though and it was good fun. I liked the horse things, TBH they managed to get the movement better with 6 legged ones than most animation seems to get the 4 legged variety.

my co-workers husband said it was like Fern Gully with Machine Guns! LOL

she and I took our clients to see it a couple months back....2D, as we didn't have a local theater doing it in 3D.

My boyfriend has it reserved for us at the local video store to rent tonight and watch...he hasn't seen it yet. I'll eventually buy it..lol

I had been wanting to see this movie for a loooong time. I had read an article about it a year or so before it came out in a magazine we get and it just sounded amazing....the amount of time he sat on this movie story until the technology to make it how he wanted was simply amazing.

I already have a new favorite, lol! (I'll spare you my immaturity and not share which one   ) Seen it twice in theaters now though

I didn't mind that the story in Avatar was recycled. Stories get reused all the time in movies and I don't recall them getting the criticism Avatar has received for this.
Let me guess Krickette... Dragon? If so, then I completely agree.
No, but I'm pretty sure that one will be when I finally get to see it!! I think we're going monday or tuesday, I'm excited.
My fav so far, at least in the "action/comedy" category is KickAss haha. It's one of those movies you're either gonna love or hate.

I will say, Avatar is my fav in the "drama" category

Oh, I don't mind it either, I just think it's funny. And it's not like I'm trying to seem super insightful when I say that, I mean, of course a movie about people coming in and destroying a native culture is going to have stuff in common with a story about a native american and a story about protecting the land from being destroyed. But ever since I saw that one Pocahontas picture it makes me giggle every time.

Husband and I saw it at the theater (regular) and simply *loved* the movie for its special effects' visual feast. I'm afraid if the storyline were better, it would have detracted from the visual punch of the movie's phenomenal CGI world.
I took a friend to watch it in 3-D and I thought it was 'okay', it was not as spectacular as I had been led to believe it would have been and my friend exited the theater with a slight headache, I guess from the mental/eye strain of viewing a movie in 3D.
So far, the only 3D movie I have found to be spectacular for the 3D effects, was the Michael Jackson one at Disneyland (Captain EO) which ran from 1986 to 1997. I saw it in 1993.

Saw Avatar in Theaters 3 times. All in 3D loved it more and more each time. (Which should be expected as my favorite movie as a kid was Ferngully :love )

My blu ray/dvd combo will be here today, if it isn't already. (As will one of my "In Death" books, but thats a different thread LOL)
