Thought I'd stop being lazy and show the pics of our kids being born this year. :) This year is our J year. So all the foals will start with J. Keep in mind, most are spanish names and so the J says "H" ;) Here is our list of mamas and their due dates. I'll update it as they are born. Next foal we had born was Jabalina MA. A filly by Ocioso and out of Escrivana. She was born on Jan 13th, 2011.

Escrivana got up and laid down again between contractions causing the foal's shoulder to become stuck. She was also a very large baby and needed some assistance to get out past the shoulders.

Both fillies are already sold. Jarocha was sold in utero at 3 months during pregnancy and Jabalina was sold the day after she was born.

Our next mare due is Espejuela. She is in foal to Nabuco and was due on the 25th. This is her first foal and so far she isn't showing any signs of going soon. Unless of course, Chema wrote down her wrong dates. ;) lol Her unborn foal, btw, was sold three days ago. lol

Krickette, yes, it just isn't up to date and not all the stallions are on it. Nabuco and Unico are outside stallions, the rest all belong with us. :)

mariosandalusians.com is the website. We're trying to get the domain info from the lady who created it to update it but she is going through a nasty divorce and hasn't gotten back to us. =\ Soon though! I have pictures of them all though (except Unico and Nabuco onhand) if you are interested and they aren't on the site.

Any new babes? Not sure about your area, but here the weather is PURFECT for deliveries...highs in the mid-60s to 70s; lows in the lower 40s.

I have been on pins and needles since Maya's bag "sprang a leak" as hubby puts it...lol. Hopefully we will have a new one before the end of the month.

No! None from our list at least. Espejuela was supposed to be our next mare due. Mario's uncle wrote down her breeding date wrong as she was no where near ready to foal on her due date. She was "due" on January 25th. She doesn't even have a bag yet at this point. lol However today I did notice she was acting different and the teats are a bit harder. This is her first foal and I don't know her "foaling habits" so I'll be sleeping with the camera on starting tonight for her.

We had a mare brought here to foal out that used to belong to us. The owners wanted her watched on a camera since for 3 days, she would start acting as if she was going into labor (she would paw, lay down, rock herself, get back up, walk around, repeat) and then just stop and go to sleep. He also mentioned she was walking funny in her hind end. She was brought to us and were going to have the vet out the following day after she arrived (she got here around 6pm) and after I got out of the shower, I walked in the bedroom to find on the camera what looked like a white bag. I ran outside and to my disappointment, the foal had come out head first. And it was already dead. It took our vet over an hour to get this foal out. Mare is ok now. Just a real bummer. Gorgeous colt too. Purebred chestnut andalusian...

I hate when we can't save them. Its never easy, even if it isn't one of our mares. I bawled my eyes out that night. I had an exceptionally hard time with it as I'm pregnant myself right now (just found out recently). I'll be 6 weeks on Tuesday.

Oh! And I'm in Southern California. Normally our weather is wonderful. Last week it was warm and in the 70s and 80s (a bit windy some days but its ok...)

But the last two days we've had rain and storms coming through. Its supposed to be over by tomorrow, though!

Forgot to update when Espejuela had her Nabuco foal on February 21st. She had her while we were sleeping (just checked on her on the cameras 20 minutes earlier!) so no birth pictures.

Prodigio (who happens to be Beleto's dam) is getting ready to foal. She's in the foaling stall but isn't due until March 20th. She's in foal to Sandokan. We need to pick up Esclava tomorrow but she isn't "due" until the 28th. She's in foal to Beleto. Gotta vaccinate Sulfide and Silueta in the next few days too.

Well, we have three mares ready to foal soon.

Prodigio was due on the 20th (5 days ago) and she generally goes on time, so just waiting now!
She is in foal to Sandokan. She is one of our older girls and is also the dam of our boy, Beleto.

Next is Esclava. She is in foal to Beleto (the stallion I just mentioned ;)). She is due on the 28th.

We've had two foals born since I last posted.

Esclava who was due after Prodigio ended up foaling first (Prodigio held out until yesterday), a day after her due date on 3/29/11. Her baby is by Beleto. I didn't take many photos as this is Esclava's first baby and she wa a bit uncomfortable with me being in her space.

She foaled a really pretty FILLY (#4 of 4! lol) we named Jacarandosa MA. For those who know spanish... this basically means a "badass hooker" >_> Was NOT my idea. lol

Next we had Prodigio and her FILLY. Ugh, we need to have some colts soon. I'm dying here...
Digio was bred to Sandokan and was due on the 20th but foaled yesterday, the 3rd of April. This is a very nice filly and we will probably end up keeping her to eventually replace her mother in the broodmare band after being shown a bit. Her name is Jarana MA. :) We were very glad the baby came out healthy and breathing as Digio had a red bag birth.

Temporera foaled before her "due date" last night and gave us an AMAZING colt! We have a guy coming out today to possibly buy him. This boy is going to be HUGE. His first steps, he got startled and trotted toward us. Already a showy boy!

Silueta had her foal eeeeearly this morning. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well so hubby ran the whole show. I slept right through her labor (I'm a light sleeper, too!) so when he came back in the house at 5am I was like, "what the heck??"

She finally broke our streak and had a COLT! Phew! Right now it looks like his name will be Jardinero MA unless the purchaser has another preference starting with a J. I will try to get some photos in the morning. I'm ready for bed. I-)

Right now we are waiting on Solariega who is bred to Beleto, due on the 13th of June. Deleite, in foal to Unico, also due on the June 13th and then Devota, bred to Brioso due on June 14th. Arg! Hope they give me some space to work with. xD

One of our favorite mares, Deleite had her foal on June 14th. A lovely, BIG colt by Unico. His new owner has named him Jabalie MA. This boy is just too sweet and social. :) I adore him and don't want him to go!

Deleite tired from pushing. We let her do her own thing for a while but after her water broke and now baby after quite some time, we had to intervene. She laid down by the wall and Rudy had to get in there and check. Sure enough, one leg was coming and the head but the other leg was stuck. So some maneuvering was in order and shortly after, the big guy came right out!

Yea, black or black bay from our boys. We had a chestnut foal born earlier this year (the one who died) but he was from an outside stallion.

Also, the boy born the other day by Unico (not our stud) is looking kinda sealy. I'll post more pics of him later. We had a foal born two nights ago from Solariega but I'm being a bit lazy on uploading. lol

I'm a bit behind... Solariega foaled a lovely Beleto colt on June 20th that we named Jorongo MA.

Unfortunately with the good comes bad. Deceada was here and ready to foal. She hadn't bagged up, no usual signs of labor she gives us. We came out to feed this morning (July 2nd) and the foal had come out head first and was dead when we found her. Deceada received fluids and is doing ok now.
