so the whole bay/brown thing...

sorry to be painful! But if my QH mare is eeAA (chesnut with chrome) and is in foal to a brown roan who is EEAaRr, can she have a brown foal? or will her AA turn it bay?? Im a tad confused about the whole brown and bay genes! Which is dominant? Bay or Brown?

I think the theory is that bay is dominant to brown, so if your mare is homozygous for bay then the foal will probably be bay. However, if her two A's are different (one for bay and one for brown) you could get a brown foal.
if she was tested at U C Davis, both her AA would mean agouti bay right? or would they be 'either' bay or brown?
Either or possibly wild bay.

UC Davis only tests for "a". So if its not "a" it automatically defaults in the test to "A".

I tested mine for the heck of it (and to know what she might throw if ever bred to an E_). She's AA with no brown. Of course that has no bearing on your mare, just sharing.
