Silver bay?

This is an Aussie Stock Horse mare im looking to buy (well have bought her I think, lol) Shes by a proven chestnut carrying silver (his sire was a silver black and he has thrown heaps of silvers himself) Shes just turned 4yrs and goin through a growth spurt, also shes in paddock condition. What do you guys think? Colour and type wise? Shes very quite, loves people and loving natured. Quite to ride. After losing my black gelding I really want a quite and nice natured horse.

this is her little sister (different dam) she was born silver grey and is now shedding out chocolate around her eveys and mouth, Id assume shes a silver black?

She has a massive blaze and a partial blue eye. what would cause this?
Sire (silver chestnut) has a stripe and socks and dam has very minimal white, just 2 back socks. Sire dosent throw this much white on his foals usually.
this filly dosent seem to have white on her bottom lip either?
(Sorry about pic quality, camera batteries were dying, i had only recharged them the day before! grrr they have only lasted 6mths and I havent even used them much!)

Looks like a splash blaze imo, could be frame but the way it comes off the face says splash to me. The lack of leg white says frame though.

First one definitely Silver Bay, the second could also be Silver or Chestnut- which I'm leaning towards.

Go the silver bays
I hope she turns out to be a lovely, quiet girl that will give you years of pleasure :D
I'm not sure on the second. I think it's a little hard to tell with that pic and perhaps her age.

2nd one I dont think is a chestnut, she was born a smokey grey colour, no red anywhere in sight. Her foal coat is light, almost like my 2 black horses went before they shed there coats.
She looks the same colour you see most silver blacks born. I have a piccy of a foal born the same colour as her il post below (related to her). this colt is buy a silver black and out of a buckskin mare (by a silver black as well) he is now a true looking silver black/choc taffy colour.

from 3 bay mares to the same stallion they got this filly, a silver bay and a chestnut. the silver bay did look chestnut until her first foal shed when her legs went chocolate and her mane and tail turned blonde ;)

yeh me too, after losing my black gelding, its uncanny how similar she is to him! same kind eye, same loving & willing nature and loves people. Cant wait to get her home, and shes only 1km away!

Your new purchase does look silver bay, the foal in the early pics could be a silver black.

I think she seems to be everything you described you are looking for in a riding horse. Can't go wrong with that! I think her hocks are a bit straight (they look a bit post-legged) but that shouldn't give her any problems as a riding horse. Overall, I think she sounds and looks adorable.

Thanks Heidi, I thought that too, Id like her neck a little longer and hocks a bit more bent but other than that I like her :)
