Is this rabicano?

My paint mare with her newborn foal;- She has frame but shows a bit of roaning next to the white patches. Her tail is solid black. The foal at ten weeks is starting to shed and has developed a sprinkling of white hairs over his hip & shoulder. He has no white except for his face.

I don't think that is rabicano; I would say sabino roaning associated with the frame markings.

I agree not rabicano. As far as we know, rabicano won't appear without white in the tail. Most other white patterning genes have the ability to cause roaning around their markings and I suspect that's what's happening here.

Rabicano also does not normally reach the shoulder except in a LOUD expression in which the coon tail should be very obvious. The foal most likely has sabino roaning (even without white markings) and could even be frame as well.

I see frame personally. :laugh1 Goes to show you frame's face white is not really determined.

You cannot tell by looking.
The only "get out of jail free" card is exactly what the poster is doing...geld!
Some things are typical of Frame, IMO the blaze on this horse is not, but coupled with the dark legs I would say it is there, BUT I would never, ever, bet the life of a foal on it.
