Need all the appy experts to help...

You know I am clueless when it comes to the appys. I will probably never get it but may get better! lol. I have to send Dixies paperwork off the to the Walkaloosa Reg. and need to decide on her color/markings pattern. She was advertised as a leopard and she does look like one but I wonder if perhaps she may have turned grey as well? She has large dark spots on her skin and some larger dark spots in her hair as well. Some of them look black and some look bay. Most seem to have a "frosty" look to them but they are obviously still there. Do you think she is a bay or black leopard or a bay or black leopard that turned grey as well??? OR is she some other form of pattern that I don't know about? I would just like to have an idea for my own sake. I think I may have her tested to find out. Will having her tested give me a greater idea of where Scout may go in color/pattern as well? I also have questions about him. He is obviously bay with a jet black mane and tail. His legs are funny to me and his nose looks funny. All of them are a really pretty silver and he has weird little black points that really stand out. He also has funny hooves. They are all black/white but in funny patterns. Do apps hooves just turn more striped as they grow? Will he just turn bay on his nose and legs when he sheds out? These are all just curiosity on my part but I would love to know what all of you think about both of them as far as color and pattern etc. Thanks guys! You are the best! Here is a pic. I sharpened the contrast so you could really see what she looks like under the white/grey hair. I think this same pic is on the foal brag with my other pics. It shows her lighter side. No but it is so exciting! I am so having foal envy - all spring - enjoy every second of it!!! I could use a ton of cliches, but they're true! Before you know it, you'll be starting him!

You've only had this mare for a few months? I really hate to be a downer, but I am noticing something about her that I am concerned about. Do you have other photos, or better yet, your own first-hand knowledge?

I am concerned that her pasterns are almost horizontal and her far hind looks like a post while carrying her weight. Can you tell me if it was simply *that* particular picture that captured her in an awkward pose? Are her pasterns angled less steeply when her weight is carried evenly instead of loaded on just a few legs? Are her ankles swollen at all? Does she stand square or with her feet close together (rocked over her fronts and/or back toes pointed down into a groove)? Likes to lay down a lot?

Whew! Okay, PLEASE DISREGARD MY ABOVE POST!!!!!

I just saw the other two threads and yes, what I was seeing in the pic in this topic *was* simply an awkward moment on film.

That said, I love-love-love bay/blanket Appy geldings. My favorite horse of all-time, my heart-horse, was a bay/blanket App. Your foal looks sweet and adorable.
