So looks like dam is buckskin, so that's why I"m thinking maybe cream, giving her her not quite black color... but of course she has Lp as well which loves to mess with things ;) She had an obvious grullo colt, but that could've come from that colt's sire. Thoughts? And what color do you think the first foal is? Looks black in the older photos, but the younger ones...?

Being a bit of a purist, I cannot see that it is right to describe as the colour "Appy" an animal that does not have any spots.
I think there is a chance that the animal pictured has varnish, but that is as far as I am prepared to go.....

I actually thought she looked gray... until I saw those last two photos you threw in. That is classic LP roaning at work.

Yes she is E_ aa. However I'm not totally convinced she's smokey. Do any of her foals make you suspect it or is it just her body color? If she didn't have LP I'd say she was probably smokey, but the phenotype changes I'm seeing could all be due to LP.

I believe those are all her foals. I'm just thinking due to the color in the first photo, before she started roaning, and that she has a buckskin dam it's very possible. But, who knows when ya got Lp in there ;)

New pics... just counter shading, or possibly some sort of dun? She had the dun colt, dad of that colt is an appy and I only found a tiny pic of him so too hard to say if it could've come from him...?
