Horse number 2

Horse number 2 Tammy is registered as a black sabino, she has face markings as shown but also a little bit of lacing down her spine, solid legs. Before repeating that breeding I would have her tested for OWLS if you have not done so already simply because she could be an OWLS carrier.

Your black "sabino" is a ringer in pattern for a mare I know to be Splash, and I suspect that is what yours is, too.
But, Yes, always, always

I also agree Splash on this mare but as repeated by the others test for Frame.

The mare appears splash. I think the foal can be counted as nearly 100% the sire's doing.

Welcome to the board Bonjovifan (so am I btw) You have some very nice looking horses and that foal is adorable.

I agree with all my cohorts - TEST that mare. From the shape and edging of that star, I would be VERY leary of frame...I just have this feeling in my bones, that the dam will test positive. I know the edges of my Maya's star (her only white) are a lot smoother and more semetrical than her's and Maya is positive for OLW (which is why she was bred to Luna - who isn't).

The foal is now 4 months old.

Tammy's sire is registered as a sabino (not that means anything), her sire registered a sabino splash.

He has produced horses only very similar to her (white face markings).

She has been tested OLWS-

Are you saying the filly tested positive or her dam? I am not clear on who is frame. :sign (I'm on some serious cold meds right now - so I'm a bit fuzzy around the edges) I just assumed you'd test the filly as her sire was OLW, but it was the dam I was questioning (I own a few of those myself - look "solid" with "chrome" and end up being frame (usually with sabino and/or splash).

Jenks Wed, 01/06/2010 - 17:34

Awesome!

I agree then that she is splash! I too thought she looked frame, though her sire line looked splash....

So what did the one who sent you think you had? I am pretty sure we could give you a few phenotypes that would be accurate.

Fledgesflight Wed, 01/06/2010 - 17:41

Tammy looks Splash (as does her sire) , but always test breeding animals for Frame (LWO).

bonjovifan Wed, 01/06/2010 - 17:53

Oh yes of course :D Tammy has been tested and was neg, her grandsire was tested for OLWS and was also neg but we wanted to be sure before breeding her to Bandit who is OLWS+.

Thankyou guys you have been a BIG help!

E.T.A I clicked the wrong smilie lol
