Horse 3

Following on from Horse 1 & 2 in the 'What colour is my horse thread' this is their son Sire: [img]http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/darnellpark/Bandit/DSC_0183-1.j…] Dam: [img]http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/darnellpark/Tammy/tam-1-1.jpg[/…] Horse 3 - Charlie [img]http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww25/darnellpark/09%20babies/DSC_107…] He has no colour or dark skin spots & 2 blue eyes. He is now 4 months old & not been tested as yet, on the cards are OLWS, SB1 & trying to work out what colour he is. You have been such a help, these white colour patterns esp splash & sabino are so confusing, there is so much info out there but all so conflicting and not sure what to believe.

With the blue eyes he could be a DD Double Dilute but I suspect that they are caused by the Frame and I also suspect another maximum Sabino like Dad.

This foal smacks of double dilute to me - he looks a lot like my cremello stallion...who is also sabino/splash (fortunately he is NOT OLW as I have a couple of positive mares  ). Of course, he is a carbon copy of "daddy"...so cute - makes me want one (Hubby would KILL me if I brought in another critter).

bonjovifan Wed, 01/06/2010 - 17:47

He can't be a double dilute as his mother is def a black & his sire has no creme genes in his pedigree, his line is full of chestnuts, I mean only chestnuts lol.

I can not find one bit of coloured hair & no dark skin spots at all? I have looked inside his ears as well as Bandit has dark skin spots in his ears?

Fledgesflight Wed, 01/06/2010 - 18:09

Maximum Sabino like his sire. With Frame or Splash or both.

bonjovifan Wed, 01/06/2010 - 18:15

Thankyou!

Will test for OLWS, SB1 & if he is a bay/chestnut or black.

Fledgesflight Wed, 01/06/2010 - 18:45

If he were mine, I'd probably test for Dominant White as well (just to rule it out/in) -even though the sire tested positive for Sb1.

bonjovifan Wed, 01/06/2010 - 18:52

His sire was neg for SB1.

I have been having a look through his sire Bandit's dam line and there is A LOT of what they are calling maximum sabinos...

I normally get me testing done through http://www.horsetesting.com/Equine.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but they don't have a DW test, do you have a link where I could fine someone that does?

Fledgesflight Wed, 01/06/2010 - 19:00

Oh well that changes everything! (I took it to mean that Bandit was positive for SB1-didn't realize that was a minus/negative sign after it :rofl

hang on ...

No, there is no test for dominant white at this time, available to the PUBLIC. There are too many mutations.

I thought there was a black on the sire's side?

bonjovifan Wed, 01/06/2010 - 19:22

Bandit's sire is a chestnut, his sire is a chestnut his sire is chestnut lol Bandit's dam is white lol her sire has black on both sire & dam side, Bandit's granddam (on dams side) is a bay, her father a silver dapple, if all that makes sense lol.

accphotography Wed, 01/06/2010 - 20:04

I was just thinking cream could be hiding in those blacks.

bonjovifan Wed, 01/06/2010 - 20:31

I wish lol will add that to be tested just in case.

accphotography Wed, 01/06/2010 - 21:03

It wouldn't be the first time a cream line has been suddenly "found" by a double dilute being produced out of "non creams". It may not be true in this case, but worth considering.
