Guess her color - for fun

I know the photo's are not so great but I'll get more this weekend. My pony mare was just color tested for agouti and red factor. I already had color tests done on her sire then got a surprise when I teted him for another color gene and it changed his color completely. I won't tell her sires color yet either so just go on her appearance as a 2 day old foal. Monday I'll add updated photo's of the foal and her parents then the next day I'll give more hints. I thought it would be fun to add some mystery. I promise to tell her whole story by next weekend, at least as much as I know myself by then since there are more test results coming.

As I've said before, Appaloosas seem to go by a different set of rules than everyone else. I'll go out on a limb and say that I think she is Black based. Beyond that I'll have to leave to someone who is much more familiar with Apps than me.

I was reminded (thank you Daylene) that I needed to post updates for this filly as promised.

Her name is KitKat and we've been calling her Kitty. She is homozygous for black (both of her parents are) and her base color appears to be seal brown. Her sire's base color is seal brown and her dam is being tested for seal brown now too and if Sheena is seal brown, and she only has one agouti, then Kitty could be homozygous for the seal brown agouti.

Plus, Sheena tested heterozygous Silver! I thought she would but seeing it on test results makes me feel good that I could figure it out on my own and be correct.

So, Kitty is brown silver dapple (chey aut was correct!)/snowcap appaloosa............and it's not color related but she is also "Gaited". I snapped away last week, she had just turned a month old. I didn't think about it at the time I was taking the photo's but when I uploaded them, it struck me that all of her photo's in motion were showing gait. Of a total of 4 foals counting Kitty, she is the only one that is gaited. The others obviously non gaited.

One picture is Kitty with my reg MFT pony, Sis, who is Kitty's half sister.

Thanks, I'll take some pics later this week. We're bringing them home from our rented place so I'll take some then. Somehow, I've ended up with an Arabian mare that is bay that has 2 agouti's (one bay and one brown), my pony stallion (EE, Ata) is brown based and I'm pretty sure my appaloosa pony mare is brown as well and I'm having her tested for it, she's the dam of KitKat. Her tests so far are EE Aa Zn and I'm betting her "A" is brown. Of 4 foals, she's not produced a single bay foal so somehow it seems unlikely she would be bay.
