Hi all, i've just registered on here after posting some pics of my mare on arabian lines somebody suggested asking on here!! I'm just interested to hear peoples thoughts on her colouring, she's a grey? arab, but has black spots?? wondering where these come from, are they a form of dappling? here's some pics... Hello and welcome!

The white around her eyes looks like vitiligo. How long have you had her? I have a PB grey arab with black spots like that. They were caused by a fungus we think (it happened prior to my getting her). The vet said probably ringworm.

Hello,

That looks like a nice mare. I agree with Jenks, it could be a fungus of some sort, or possibly just leftover pigment that is just lingering. Very difficult to know for sure.

Ahhh thats interesting, she hasn't had any ringworm with me but it's very possible as she's only been with me since last year so certainly could of had prior to me getting her, they are only visible in her summer coat, the black spots just look like dips in her winter coat (shorter coat) but she appears pure white!!

Okay, as I don't have greys (so far I've missed owning one of that color :rofl ), but couldn't that just be "flea bites" (ticking) that greys get sometimes before they go all grey?

Yep! That's them! Let me upload - Ser is the one in my avatar - that's the end of her winter coat. In the summer, she has been accused of being part appaloosa! LOL Let me find some pics.

Serenity has fleabites too, they are quite different.
