Dun?

Do you think this pony is dun? The owner has always said he's a dun, ever since birth, I'm not convinced. I personally think he's smokey black with a bit counter shading showing up in his lighter coat. Both parents are simply registered as duns, but both have cream gene parents. I'm pretty sure the sire has sired cream dilution foals before too. What do you guys think? [img]http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/396815_21795535…]

I'd like a better shot of the dorsal stripe...is the edging to the stripe crisp, like you just pulled tape from a freshly painted wall? or is it sorta fuzzy and uneven as it goes across his back?

He "could" be dun. I've seen dark grullos that color. The color of his foal coat isn't typical of a grullo however, and makes me think more black or even brown. I agree with NZ that I'd like a better shot of his dorsal.

I've asked for better pictures of his dorsel before, and she's never had them, that scratching picture is the best picture of his dorsel I've seen. It's probably partly why I'm not convinced he is dun, and as you say foal pictures etc. But I thought I'd ask here as there have been some mini's posted before that I didn't think looked very dun either, that people said were definitely dun!

Here's another foal picture, where you should be able to see the dorsel if it was there

Yeh, that's why I'm questioning it! She posted him in our local shettie forum too as a baby, as a dun
